I wouldn't normally ask on here but as face to face appointments are difficult to justify right now I thought I might as well ask...

Over the last couple of days my girlfriend has developed a small lump on her eye. We spoke to the doctors who prescribed Chloramphenicol eye ointment over the phone without seeing the eye and obviously Google leads to oblivion. The docs are ringing back in the morning to discuss again.

Any eyedeas would be helpful!

I've no eyedea what it might be but does your gf have an optician she could send the picture to? I've always found mine much more knowledgeable about eye issues than my doctor.

I'm not medically qualified but that looks like a Conjuntival Cyst (like a blister on the clear membrane of the eye). They're harmless but can be annoying. They can resolve themselves (including by "bursting) or can be treated. Sometimes they will be drained under local anaesthetic.

Please do get a proper diagnosis from an appropriate healthcare professional!

Thanks for the replies.

She managed to get an appointment at the walk in centre and they basically said the same. She just needs to finish her course of ointment and it should clear on it's own.

I'm not much of a worrier when it comes to things like this but she was panicking that it'd be serious and potentially cause problems with her vision
