I have Coronavirus
Discussion
Yes it’s official, after spending most of the afternoon at the local hospital, I have the virus. I work within the aviation industry on the ground, all week I’ve felt rough but didn’t really think much of it until yesterday when it seemed to get much worse. I had all the symptoms mentioned, my boss actually sent me home yesterday so called my GP who advised going to the hospital for further tests.
To be honest, it doesn’t feel much worse than a bad case of man flu.
Anyway, off work for 2 weeks so time to get the household chores done.

You work for BA then?
Not BA but at the same airport as the baggage handlers picked up by the press. We’ve all been working with additional precautions but I have a feeling it will spread so quickly around the airports, it’s impossible to protect the ground staff from exposure to passengers, aircraft cabins and baggage. Two weeks self isolation is probably insufficient. I’d suggest you’d need the all clear from the health service before you go back to work. To be honest, it doesn’t feel much worse than a bad case of man flu.

The two weeks is for people who are not actually diagnosed positive but have been somewhere and are likely to have been exposed.
Check with them before you go back.

Oh no. Hope you are ok.
If you’re up to it an update on condition, symptoms and general info would prob be appreciated by everyone.
+1 if the OP wouldn't mind, it would be very useful to know. Best of luck OP, get plenty of car mags and books read and plenty of car related videos to keep your mind off things. If you’re up to it an update on condition, symptoms and general info would prob be appreciated by everyone.

Possibly a stupid question but I'll ask anyway..
So if you're at home for 2 weeks, does this mean your household will all get it now?
Never understood this self isolation unless you live in 1 room.
A friend of mine had to self isolate and his wife and daughter moved into a hotel for that period. So if you're at home for 2 weeks, does this mean your household will all get it now?

Just to answer a few of the questions above, I’m still reading in greater detail all the information I’ve been given earlier today.
As far as the symptoms go, it’s like a really bad case of the flu with more aches and pains than usual along with a really dry/sore throat and fever.
My wife and daughter have gone to stay at her mums for a couple of weeks.
I have a doctors telephone follow up on Monday but so far that’s the extent of any monitoring apart from a phone number to call for those with the virus should anything get worse.

I've got to ask...do you actually mean "the flu" here, as actual flu generally leaves people completely floored, let alone "a really bad case" of it.Or is the word "flu" being used generically, as many now do, to actually indicate a bad cold?
I'm asking genuinely, as I think knowing this will be of interest to many, since "a really bad case of the flu" is actually frigging terrible and leaves you unable to even move in most cases.
