Quick question for anyone who's with Vitality...

When it's time to renew your policy, has anyone had any success in challenging their retention team for a better price?

I know "you won't know if you don't ask" blah blah but I'm interested what kind of savings people are making

TIA

At the place I worked before retiring, we had health insurance through Vitality.
After a couple of years I think the Partners abandoned Vitality for something else as it was getting expensive and at the same time they were getting awkward about claims. I may be mistaken though.
What I do know is that health insurance was hoisted upon us without asking and it cost me a lot in tax as a result.

Yes. Had a big uptick this year, despite hitting “Platinum” months ago.

Called them & said I was unhappy.

This year’s price is now within a few £ of last year’s price.

Definitely worth calling them if you’re not happy.

Out of interest have you ever had to claim from Vitality? I switched to them from Bupa for 1 year and had to make a claim. They dithered and dragged out approval for so long I would have been better off just using the NHS, I switched back to Bupa when it came to renewal.

Not personally, no. Interesting to hear your experience - would be useful to know if others have had the same.

I set up a policy with them for my business a couple of years ago. The 'back office' and administration of the whole thing was a nightmare and I dread to think how much admin staff time we spent trying to keep the whole thing in check.

I wouldn't go with them again as a corporate buyer unless they'd improved their setup.

Almost every year I phone them up & discuss the renewal quote which results in a new quote with almost no increase in premium.

I've actually found them very quick to deal with a couple of claims this year, although I made sure the hospital was on the approved list. They even approved a retrospective claim which I was happy about.

What I don't like about them is the constant pressure to get you to buy stuff like gym memberships & the like. They clearly have a bunch of partners or affilates who just want to sell to you. I don't want a deal on a Fitbit, I just want insurance.

I've used their GP service and got to see a consultant pretty quickly within 14 days. It was pretty slick with no quibbles

Thanks guys I'll ring them up and see what they can do for me! My premium only went up by £4 a month but still worth seeing if I can save a few

I think the benefits are great, some including gym memberships can be worth more than the insurance itself! The cinema tickets, David Lloyd, ocado and apple watch incentives have saved me a shed load

I can't type to much but our son has cover with them and they have been brilliant, apparently the current bill is over £200k.

But the money will never cure the st that is cancer.

Just out of interest what are people paying for this? I can't find any information on the Internet to see if I'm getting a good deal

I've just been renewed for 52/month

30 , male , healthy but slightly overweight. One minor claim in the past few years to see a dermatologist
