Hi,
For longer than I can remember, I don't get any morning erections. This has me worried/anxious etc.

In additiom, I can sometimes get strong erections very easily but on other ocassions, like now, I cannot, if I try (anxiety above may make a physiological cause worse). Very rarely, I can get a strong erection when I am in bed and about to sleep, but this is rare.

I am 33yo and circumcised. It is effecting my sex drive, which in turn effects my erections, so it's a viscous cycle.

I am seeing a urologist in two weeks. Anyone got experience with this problem?

Thanks

Hoofy

(Mods might want to move this to the health section.)

From what I understand, it's usually a mental problem especially at your age unless you're overweight and drink and smoke. Work stress can also affect things as can a lack of sleep.

Erm, when you say you sometimes can’t get an erection ‘like now’, do you mean you are trying to get an erection while browsing ph?

You are best speaking to a doctor or at least trying some viagra that you now get without prescription. I think even Asda do it.

Haha how embarrassing!

Hmm I do have some mental anxiety about this area of my life. So there is that. But I'm sure there's a physical component too especially if I don't get morning erections for so long now!

Veinous leak may be a factor too due to an unrelated condition I have.

And no I can get an erection by rubbing a certain part of my penis but I noticed that this hasn't worked in a sexual encounter which could be nerves.

Could be mental, when I was younger 14-16 I thought I had erectile dysfunction and/or retrograde ejaculation. It was all mental, ALL.

I was nervous and had performance anxiety, even purchased viagra, which didnt even work because mentally I still was in the wrong state.

See a doctor and have your hormone levels checked, specifically your testosterone levels. Thats would be my starting point.

It’s either a mental health issue or it could be physical in that are you overweight? Do you drink heavily or take drugs?

There's no such thing as impotence, just ugly women.

Had your diet changed? Low carb diets will lower your metabolism which lowers Testosterone production. The effects can be profound.

The moment you start worrying strongly that you might not be able to perform, it becomes a self-fulfilling phrophecy.

I have been through this somewhat after sustaining pelvic area nerve damage, equating to significant physical desensitisation.

It doesn’t work for everyone, but I found viagra a very effective confidence boost on occasions when I was worried a session might not go to plan.

It would be a good idea to speak to a doc but I also found some were more understanding than others - one particularly old skool GP told me to come back and speak to him about medication when I had a regular partner - as if I needed sex therapy - so I just bought it online and used it casually as needed.

Morning erections are due to the body being in a super relaxed state so the blood is free to flow. If you're not getting them then it's possible that you're feeling the anxiety through the night.

I would address the mental issues first before filling yourself with random chemicals. Perhaps speak to your doctor about CBT as many GPs do refer patients.

Is it a timing issue??

A strobe gun and a quick twist of the distributor may sort it.

You need to thin the blood a bit.

This. I was similar, and even had hot flushes as my levels were comparable to someone in heir nineties.

Having been on TRT for the best part of a year I feel much better. When i wake up in the morning I feel better to the extent that I could probably poke a hole in a cheap door.

You know, being in a similar position to the OP because of depression drugs I'm on, I would've told you that you're an idiot and a clown.

But then I met a bird at the weekend and I just got mad horny from talking to her, that never happens with the wife. So yeah, you're actually right.

Ok so some more context.

I don't drink, smoke, do drugs of any sort, nor am I on any medication. I'm not diabetic, or have any nerve related disorders that effect sensation/feeling. I am circumcised, but the opinion is that does not influence ED.

I do have one unrelated condition that does lead to some vascular anomalies so that may be a factor (may cause a veinous leak). But I do have the physical ability to get an erection, and I can get aroused (although what I say below does impede that a bit maybe).

I will get my testosterone levels checked as I do feel like i have a low sex drive, but like someone said, this is a self-fulfilling prophecy. As I first noticed some difficulties in getting an erection, it kills my desire to have sex anyway, so we go round in circles. There's some unrelated psychological issues I have around sex and self esteem which may be a factor, but definitely think this is physical. I do get counselling though.

For example, I slept well last night, I woke up with the need to urinate but no erection (apparently a full bladder puts pressure on the prostate which can cause an erection, makes sense given how close those two body parts are).

Thanks

It sounds pretty normal to me, it's called 'growing up' and not being a teenager anymore.

I have had this problem my entire life. Early on the drs assumed it was all in my head. Later on in life it was decided that it possibly was something more serious. My T levels were low and I am now on HRT. That made a bit of a difference, but still never solved in completely. Loosing weight and being healthy also helped a little but it was never what I would call normal.

I was eventually referred to urology they were next to useless. Their view was basically if drugs work like Viagra / Cialis then ps off and take those. You can only get them on a private prescription and were quite expensive. They also take the spontaneity out of it. Cialis works really well and lasts for days. If you dont want to lose the spontaneity there are daily does, or you can just cut up a large dose and take it every couple of days. Bit of a waste unless you are needing it often.

You dont even need to see your GP. Go on to LLoyds pharmacy website and fill in a form and they will prescribe it. The patent ran out on both viagra and cialis so now there are generics available which are a little bit cheaper.

Too much porn.

Leave off the internet sex for a while and it'll probably be fine.

Nothing to do with porn. In fact, porn sometimes helps me get an erection if it is arousing.

I've cut porn and while it does make a difference, it does not fix this.
