Mods please move this if it is in the wrong place.

OK new job means at least two more hours driving a day and more depending on where I am needed.

This type of traveling also means rubbish places to eat breakfast and lunch.

What do the PH massive do for healthy on the road breakfasts and lunches?

Take them with you. Either prepare in batch over the weekend, or each evening prepare the next day's meals.

Probably best in food&drink or health matters though.

Sandwich meal deal from supermarkets for lunch - with the low calorie sandwich option.

For breakfast - usually peanut butter on toast before I leave the house, as it's slow-burn carbs which keep you going. Failing that, cereal bars, which I have a stock of in my boot.

It is a slippery slope. I recommend the following:

1. Always have a lot of water in bottles in the car. Hungry and tempted by McD or similar? Drink water.
2. Get a quick coffee maker (Nespresso / Tassimo). It means you are much more likely as you're getting out to the car to actually make a cup of coffee. Get one of those thermos cup thingies as well. This for breakfast gets rid of the hunger pangs far above nothing and gets you into a bit of a routine.
3. If you're searching out food, try Subway rather than Burger King / KFC. Otherwise try supermarket cafes. It isn't great, but it is real food rather than processed junk so tends to sit a bit better on the hips. I'm sure there is a 'find me a Subway' app.
4. If you're staying in hotels be very wary of the buffet breakfast. Try not to think: 'I've already paid a fortune for the room, I'll try and make my money back on the breakfast'.
5. If you're more organised than me, make sandwiches the night before.

Also, a certain female I know has been known to say that masturbation whilst on quiet (or dark) roads does wonders for passing the time - I imagine it would take your mind off the food too...

Would certainly make going through the drive-through a little tricky.

what about cereal bars to stop you wanting anything from a fast food place?

That's part of your problem.

If you get breakfast right, you won't need 'mid morning' snacks.

I have 3 slices of bread with peanut butter and tea for breakfast - then burn off circa 700 calories in the gym - all before going to work.

I rarely feel the need for a mid-morning snack - but if I do, I'll have a skinny latte or similar. (Make sure it's proper skimmed milk and not semi-skimmed).

Then the sandwich deal for lunch.

One idea carry a portable gas stove you can then look forward to making your own freshly
boiled coffee or tea, you could also heat up lovely soup only takes minutes.

For super QUICK boiling carry a thermos flask with water already boiled takes about 30seconds to 1-2minutes to reboil!

£20 all in with 8 gas canisters>>

Thanks for all comments so far.

I do have an allowance for food, so should be buying stuff.

My mains routes will be A50 and M6 between Manchester and Birmingham. I know where the spar is on the A50, but are they any other good places to pick up healthy food?

So far I have been popping into the blue and yellow place in Wednesbury for the healthy options, but was wondering if there is a quick sushi bar or salad place around that area?

I think they maybe differences between men and women on food intake, I am finding that something small every two hours is far better than large breakfast, lunch and dinner. It also coincidences with it being good to stop every two hours for a break whilst driving. But I will try the porridge idea, and there are a few more healthy options on the golden arches menu now a days, just very tempting to eat the bad stuff.

I have also heard of a Chinese supermarket which has soup and food around Birmingham. I suppose I am looking for the different places that have a healthy option. So all suggestions greatly received.

Doesn't mean you will lose weight. You might even put on weight.

You need to do some sort of regular exercise routine.

One recommendation is to try and walk each day during work even if it's just 10-20mins.
