Much appreciated if a few people would sign this one http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/22012 in regards to the NHS diagnosing chronic conditions. This covers many conditions from endometriosis to crohn's disease.

Thank you.

I've signed it, but I would say that I can't see anyone being against it and if you want to see something done about it then a more specific petition which has black and white outcomes that the hard of thinking in Westminster don't have to produce themselves might stand a marginally better chance of getting something done.

Indeed, I don't think it's terribly well written or the best question to ask but with any luck it will get some attention.

I'm not signing that.

Health spending is about 10% of GDP at the moment, up from 7% about 5 years ago and compared to 14% for countries like France, Germany, etc.

Health spending is £100 billion per year and is likely to stay the same or go down, whilst inflation is 5%.

There is no way the government is going to change health spending when they have gone from 7% to 10% in the last decade and we are deeply in a recession.

Sadly, and I don't like to be a cynic/deppressive here, that petition is going to achive nothing as it is poorly directed, very vague, and would be better served by a direct challenge to the next government(s) to include NHS spending reviews in their manifesto(s).

This isn't a petition to get some Gurkha's a passport here, you're talking an 'election-losing' policy decision....

Are you saying we should be increasing health spending to 14% like France or reducing it?

I think the question, which I do agree is badly worded, is trying to force the NHS to give more consideration to these chronic conditions when people seek help from their doctor. Someone going to their GP with terrible stomach problems and being told "it's just period pains, take some pain killers" and then finding out 12 months later that they have a condition like endometriosis, is a pretty bad state of affairs. This is happening with many conditions where people are being fobbed off by GPs.

I realise that the NHS is always under pressure and has fallen victim to 'he who shouts loudest' but you can't blame people for using this technique when it works.

What is the petition actually asking for? More specialists, more diagnostic equipment and easier access to it from primary care providers?
