I believe there are drugs out there which can do so yes (but I think they are rather dangerous to use, not surprisingly).

don't the use mandrake or deadly nightshade to produce some sort of heart issue.

the do blood test for heart attacks, tio check the levels of some cells that are produced, so you have to trick a egr and a blood test.

Well, they can tell a hell of a lot from the ECG reading. I would suggest that faking a heart attack symptom, wou
D be easy, but getting down to the nitty gritty signs would be difficult.

This - aparrently a person's ECG reading is unique to them too and can be used as a biometric quantity like a fingerprint - I didn't know that until recently.

Wow. Cool! I didn't know that until even more recently... like about 30 seconds ago. biggrin

It's currently being researched anyway - someone on my course at Uni is studying it as their final year project.

How can you fake a stopped heart?...if the brain doesn't get oxygen because there's no blood supply you're in trouble,so you can't fake that.

Or d'you mean minor (!) myocardial infarction, when only part of the heart doesn't receive any blood?

It's possible if you said you felt nauseous, chest felt tight, you were in pain etc..

Just read the title properly,'can you fool an ecg?'

I think no.

It certainly is possible to fool the machine. I regularly see printouts with "possible...this that and everything else" on them.

You just won't be able to fool the Doctor interpreting it hehe

I guess you will be the one with the best answer due to your username sooooooo

is a very small fake attack possible - say someone says he's just not feeling 100% with tight chest & indigestion - medic without ecg available bangs a load of clot buster in at first opportunity .Would said patient with the correct drug be able to convince doc he'd suffered a genuine minor attack?

I can't actually say, but in my opinion as a layman, I suspect not.

But that's the machine making a mistake/misreading.

D'you think someone can set out to deliberately fool one?

I suppose you could insert a small electrical device into your chest...

Eat a 24oz fillet steak, drink 5 litres of Red Bull with espresso chasers and then go for a 5 mile run in a warm jacket.

Wouldn't the Doctor be able to tell the difference between an Arrhythmia and a heart attack though?
