So for some time now when I finish work my back really burns right in the middle.

I tend to find that if I lie down for half hour and do some side to side stretch's this helps but anyone got any ideas or experience of something similar.

Just to note im 26, my job does involve me lifting objects that are fairly light but become awkward the way they have to be lifted.

how long has it been going on for? do you only get it after days at work? what do you do at work (lifting lots, sitting at a desk all day) where exactly is the pain? you say middle of back, is that the middle of your back (i.e. a little below the level of the bottom of you shoulder blades) or in the middle of your low back or what? do you get any numbness/tingling/weakness/loss of sensation etc in the legs? any pain on coughing/sneezing etc? what aggravates the pain? are you an active individual, if so what do you do and how often?

millions of more questions i could ask biggrin

cheers,

Ross.

i get it sometimes. its a sharp stabbing pain in the middle of the back near the top of the shoulder blades.
tends to happen after exersize or lfting things high.
a soak in a hot bath normaly helps though.

ok its in what I call the middle of my back so directly on the other side of my belly button is the best way to describe it. I work for a company fitting car windscreens. So its lifting them up and around and in cars all day which keeps me active all day.

It feels a bit like muscle pain as its a really dull pain but feels sore and tight. No tingles or loss of sensations anywhere.

if its your lower back then wear a wide belt and try and bend with your knees not your back.
the belt will help though, have it as tight as you can if its hurting and it should help.

Go see a physio and get some good, deep stretches for your upper hamstrings.Do some exercises to strengthen your core and abs and try to lift properly,as mentioned

above.
