3 Peaks: Recovery Nutrition
Discussion
Hi all.
Just this weekend did the 3 peaks challenge. Mostly enjoyable (lovely weather!) except for coming down Snowdon when both knees couldn't hack it and I had blisters. Up for next year though!!!
Anyhow, today my legs ache and are as still as an iron bar. Normally a couple of days ret would solve that but I need to recover asap. What food's should I be eating and general advice for curing blisters and getting rid of the stiffness (nothing dodgy...)
Cheers

Oh 'For Goodness Shakes'..

It's recovery in a bottle, apparently, if you believe the hype. A simple (and cheap) enough solution to your achey woes.
Currently £1 each at Tesco, the chocolate flavour tastes the best / least worst.

The key to minimising muscle tiredness and general acheyness (?) after prolonged exercise is the replacement of glycogen. This means you need to eat carbs (ideally
both simple and complex) within half an hour of completing the exercise, and protein soon after that.If you haven't done this then I'm afraid you'll have to let
nature take its course. To recover completely from a marathon can take a month,so be glad it won't take that long to feel right.A little walking/stretching/massage might
help.
