I have a cold and taste buds are shot.

Had some chicken for tea and it tasted a tad weird but put it down to my sore throat and feeling unwell.

Wife than started to eat hers and spat it out.

Great, I'd already eaten half a breast.

I am now started to feel sick but am not sure if this is the chicken or the cold.

I ate the food about an hour ago, can it have an effect that quickly?

I did that once, think it was 4-5 hours later and I was chundering for England.

Did she cook it for you? If so, I highly recommend a high powered left hook to her jaw when you're feeling better.

IME yes - the body is quite good at going "get fecked" when you have something dodgy.

As mentioned above, the body is very good at ridding itself of poisons like that. Trouble is, it often comes without warning. Don't be more than a few steps from a loo for the next 48 hours.

Also, Buscopan. Tremendous for the stomach cramps.

Okay, if the worst comes to the worst the next 48hrs could be bad. Get rehydration sachets (they normally come in a pack with immodiam (sp?) type products). Ensure you are well hydrated now.

I'd personally try some pepto-bismol. A pharmacist recommended it to me when suffering from the runs - it will probably help prevent symptoms, though I'm not a doctor.

Keep your phone with you if it starts to get bad.

Don't take any ammodiam unless you absolutely have to. Let your body flush the bugs out, not trap them in.

Good luck - I know from experience having eaten under cooked chicken in Uganda, and had fever and passed out. Not nice.

An alternative might be to get absolutely ratted on spirts and hope the alcohol kills the bugs. No idea if this would work though!

As much as temptation says reach for the Imodium, cheese, whatever, best bet is always to let nature take it's course - You are hurl, spin and stting yourself for a reason.

Don't take Immodium, I did that when I was ill with food poisoning, as per the instructions I took one per bowel movement, ate about six or something like that and didn't poo for days. When I did it was like Uranium pellets.

The only reason imodium and it's ilk should be used is to allow time to get out of a situation, leaving a country by plane, etc

In the case of food poisoning specifically, yes And as an emergency measure for the poor soul who can't get anybody else to pick the kid up from school etc.

I don't think so but I have been sick a few times but don't know if that was flu or the chicken

Difference between flu and food poisoning is between ‘have been sick’ and ‘can't stop being sick’.
