the lads at work who go to the gym regularly seem to avoid the carbs,

a ittle like atkins.

ive started at th egym now doing mainly crosstrainer work,

It's likely his style of dieting is much better than slimming world style..

The main difference is between eating a set amount of clean calories and a set amount of calories.

However you could do a higher carb lower fat clean diet with similar results..

I try to stick to the Tim Ferris slow carb diet. http://www.fourhourworkweek.com/blog/2007/04/06/ho...

The combined with some kettle bells twice a week, running 4 miles twice a week, heavy weights at the gym once a week and walking the dog daily has seen my drop over 10kg (22lb) in just over 2 months. I think I've put some muscle on too, certainly stronger.

Weight training. Use heavy weights, but don't get injured!

Do some cardio too, whatever you enjoy, or your motivation will wane.

Just eat sensibly and cut out the biccys, chocchoc, pop, cake, sweets, ice-cream, crisps and so on.

That will do it...
