I might have an allergy to nuts.

I've noticed that each time I eat some I get indigestion in my upper back. It's hard to explain but it's as if they are irritating part of my system. Does anyone else on here suffer a nut allergy and what are the symptons you get?

Well being "powerfully built" your back muscles are considerably stronger than those of us mere mortals. I think a body building forum is your place.

A sensible answer wink

I suffer from a mild nut alergy but I tend to avoid all nuts other than almonds and walnuts as I'm not entirely sure which kick it off. I puke - a lot, my face and eyes swell up, blood vessels burst around my eyeballs and I get visual halucinations - white lights, traces etc. Only lasts for a few hours but it's thoroughly unpleasant.

Nothing like you describe however. Not to say it's not a nut allergy.

Blimey, it takes me 5 bottles of Speckled Hen to get all those esymptons! That is scary.

I'm wondering if it's an allergy because I ge the same affect in my back from pollen when it triggers my hay fever.

What does "indigestion in my upper back" mean? Can you explain this a bit more? Do you mean tightness across your back (but not your chest), restricting your breathing? Or a feeling of acid reflux around your thoracic spine?

Sorry, not very good at explaining this sort of thing. I get a tightness across my upper back and it feels like it's restricting me breathing in.

thought this was going to be something like big boobs make your back ache and you have the same thing due to huge nuts dragging you over.

I get a similar thing (across chest also) when I eat shellfish so I would say it is an allergic reaction.

I just avoid shellfish entirely whenever possible, maybe you should consider the same for nuts.

I'd say quite confidently that this is acid reflux. I suffer from it quite badly from time to time and the pain can manifest itself around your upper body. Not unusual to feel it on upper back. Actually when I saw a consultant about it, he told me the esophagus doesn't communicate very well with the brain so the brain can get signals of discomfort it thinks is in your back when its in your esophagus! Well, I believed him anyway.

Worth considering gall bladder too, maybe? Mine's dodgy now and I've realised that quite a bit of what I had been assuming was common or garden-variety indigestion is actually gall bladder pain. irked Middle age, here I come...

EFA.

I have this vision that the OP is one of those types who stands in front of the mirror with his 'training partner', telling each other how 'powerfully built' they are whilst training.

But they're not in the closet at all.
