With 20 weeks to go, my missus still has not found bridesmaid dresses that she wants her girls to wear.

Too expensive, wrong style, winter colours still in the shops...you name it, it caused a problem. Not least we have 2 girls size 8 and 2 girls size 12-14....

Anyway, without being able to be specific other than preferred colour (minty green), are there any girls/boys who have managed to source dresses from unlikely places. Or does anyone have any contacts who make them?

In Hertfordshire.

Cheers!

Was not expecting any responses really so thanks!

My point (which clearly I did not make!) is that she has been to most bridal stores in our area, all the high street alternatives (Monsoon, Coast etc) and can't find anything. That is not to say the shops are empty, but you don't just pick any old dress.

So my post was to find out if anyone else struggled this much and what they did/where they went in the end.

And yes, I forgot that PH is full of old grumpy TVR drivers wink

What Ebay shop was that?

she must be very fussy!
Kind of, but I can see her point. They need to perfect, especially for photos. Ones she does like are £175 each!

Just out of interest how much have you budgeted for 4 dresses?

My GF has just spent £400 on two, and we have just found out that my sister in law who is going to be one of the bridesmaids is up the duff! GF is not happy!

I can get her to suggest some makes when I get home.
Aiming for max £100 per dress - Monsoon/Coast etc seem to vary between £60-180.

Am i the only one thinking maybe the dresses aren't the problem
I know what you are getting at. But I have to sympathise with her - it's the most important day of her life and she wants it to be perfect.

The girls are all in agreement too so it can't just be one fussy bride!

Zippee - just South of the Bedfordshire border now. Thanks very much for the offer, however fortunately we have a family friend doing it for free!

You know what I mean!

Point of order old boy. She's found plenty of dresses. Hundreds, possibly thousands of dresses. Oh, she's found them alright. But the fussy bh still can't decide what's right for her - none of the thousands she has seen are good enough for her special day.

What does this tell you? It tells me you're in for a lifetime of pain my friend. A lifetime of pain.

HTH

Toodle pip, enjoy!!
hehe

I sympathise because I have done fk all and just turning up on the day hoping everything is ready!

ahh... so you'll be turning up in a white suit, with top hat and a pink cravat and waist coat...

and if you dont - you'll have ruined her day!
....ah bks!! The suits, the suits! Was meant to order the suits yesterday!

Rude Girl - 20 weeks must be wrong then as the wedding is early August, which according to my calendar is just over 4 months away.

The dilemma is when the cut-off point is at which she stops looking in the shops and tries to get them made.

edit - seriously though, of the last 5 weddings you went to, can you remember what colour the bridesmaids were wearing?

I don't disagree with your point, but I am just trying to do the best for her. I agree that the "wedding" in it's literal sense is about more than this, but apart from some hazy memories, the only thing we will have to remember the day is the photos - we want the bridesmaids to look their best! And I am sure they would want to.

I have pitched the idea of getting them from Ebay and having them altered and that appears to be a possibility at the moment so thanks all for the suggestion.

Reverse that - when did you last go to a wedding where the bridesmaids looked awful? Generally they're scrubbed up well and are smiling & happy... and that always makes good pics smile

I am a dressmaker, I know your price range, if you are interested, please could you pm me a picture of the dresses you are after and I'll let you know if I could help.

SArah
Sarah, thanks for the offer. The girls are going out to the shops this weekend for another look but if it gets to the stage where making them is the only option, I will certainly suggest you as an option.
