...wavering on the edge. Everyone I know is on it, I've resisted so long. Any downsides?

If you have enough friends, it's a better (worse) procrastination tool than PH.

Well it's a bugger when you are tucked up in your bed all cosy & somebody calls you out because their cat's stuck up a tree.

It has the potential to consume you if you are that kind of person.

Otherwise it's fine, it only knows what you tell it and it will only show others things you tell it to show them, the problem is working out how to set things like this and then keeping on top of it when they decide to modify the defaults on a whim.

I'm new to it but it's helping me be less anti-social, each to their own though, try it, you can always log out and try to forget it exists.

Its not good but it is good in a way. Everyone is on there so everyone knows everything about each other.

You have to be VERY careful what you say or do on there. Even more so than what you say or do in real life.

Given all that you should watch this video before making your decision:

Mods!!, Lounge?
I did, be prepared for lots of past folks to contact you.
Could be good, or bad.
Your decision.

If you don't want people from the past / family / whatever finding you, don't use your full real name, or put in your real date of birth. It is as simple as that. That way, only people who you have given your details to can find you.

P.S. Dungeon Overlord is around a squillion times better than Farmville. It is a variation on the old Dungeon Keeper plus a bit of Inselkampf.

You do get the odd bit of mentalness, so I like to keep my profile (photos of you, old school etc) so only my friends can see it. This way, anyone searching for you will see your name & profile pic, and then if they know you they'll add you, and if you know them you can accept them and be FB friends.

There is a setting to let 'friends of friends' or 'everyone' see all your bits and bobs, but if you think this is a bit too public you can turn it off. Account > Privacy Settings up the top right of the page (if you ever join the dark side wink)

it's as much as little as you want - pick your settings (and friends...) carefully and it's a good way to keep in touch - since I'm out of the country it is great for sharing pictures, updates and whatever with family/friends, even if you don't have time (or habit) to phone them.

yes there is a lot of drivel on it to distract you and swallow time - but no different to the rest of the net, just in one place.

Fact: you will be stalked by at least one ex.

And if your friends aren't already members of PH, you need to be asking yourself if they're really worth calling your friends. smile

PH: it's all the internet you'll ever need. (Ok, so there's also that other site which keeps asking for your credit card details, but that's it.)

It depends on the type of person you are. If you get easily addicted to things then perhaps it's not the best (you can waste a lot of time on it), but it sounds like it's something you'd use a bit, but not go crazy on. At least that's what myself and other friends were like after taking ages to join. It's usually the people that join instantly you see on there all the time. I don't really bother with almost all apps - use PH for time wasting instead! As mentioned be careful on your settings. Basically any person who might go out with you will most likely check you facebook page, probably some ex too!

In my line of work, it allows me to keep in touch with a whole load of Navy and Marine mates scattered around the country, who move locations every couple of years. A bit like the old friends reunited sort of thing, but with e-mail - it means I can turn up in Portsmouth for a few days, text the mates I have mobile numbers for and message the others on FB and have a good night out.

I might spend half an hour a day on it max, sometimes not on a for a few days at a time. My missus is about the same, but I've got friends who do the apps - some mafia type game, farmville, horoscopes, jewelled blitz etc who'll spend hours and hours on there.
