Out in the Peak District. Can't believe what just happened. Some old guy had a stroke at the table across from us. After the ambulance took him away, 4 old women on next table complained cos their desserts were delayed!!! biggrin

Lol, perhaps they're aware they haven't got as much time left as the younger people around them. They say time is precious.

In seriousness, elderly people like that never cease to amaze me. It's fking disgusting how selfish they can get, especially as it's only the selflessness of the younger people they complain about all the frigging time that keeps the bds on the fking mortal coil in the first place.

And I'm done.

I think older people are more at ease with dying than youfs.

They can feel the boney hand on their shoulder and accept it as something they can't avoid, whereas young people think they'll live forever and know everything wink

It's a bit heartless, I agree, but I think it's just an acceptance that nothing last forever, so you better get your Dessert now!

They really are a different breed, years ago I was hillwalking north of Inverness, and the nearest hotel was one of those 'bargain breaks for coffin dodger' type places, where they load elderly women from Middle Englandshire into a double decker hearse thing and take them away to remote spots to give their families a break....

Anyway, a friend and I were having a beer when in came the 'Hearse' after an excursion to look at puffin droppings drying (I made that bit up - it's too wet for them to dry!).

It turns out that one lady had been feeling unwell and had decided not to go on the excursion, she had worsened and was rushed to hospital where she had passed away.

There was a brief chat about this, then I clearly heard the phrase, said without irony, 'Ah well, at least you've got a room to yourself now'!

The manager said they didn't have to pay for their desserts!

As they left I did comment that I hoped they didn't trip over the step on their way out. smile

In my experience 80% of old people are lovely and kind whereas the remainder are truly horrible - there's no middle ground

My experience is the opposite, 80% are miserable and horrible, with 20% being lovely.

But being miserable is one of the luxuries of being old isn't it? A bit like farting in public and so on, they no longer give a damn what others think of them.

When my father died aged 87, I rang around his (few) remaining friends:

"Congratulations! You've made it into the quarter-finals."

Thankfully they all had the same dark sense of humour as he, and got the joke.
