Anyone know about old guns?
WWII Vickers machine guns in particular and what they may be worth?

I assume its de-activated. If its not, you might want to delete this post and go straight to the police station (ring them first so they dont get a surprise and only certain stations can accept firearms / ammunition!)

If it is de-act, you can get a good idea of the value on a site like milweb by looking at their classifieds.

Without knowing it's rarity or collectability, I'd estimate £600-700+, so it will be worth selling.

edit - you could probably double that

If it's not deactivated then lose it quick, do not take it to the police, firearms possession is an absolute offence, there is no defence in law and you will be subject to the same 5 year minimum sentance as anyone else, unles there is some sort of amnesty in force.

They are deactivated in a display case with certificates, from a collector.
They have had what I think he called the reciever? and the barrels welded.
Ive been offered them as part of a deal and liked the look of them.
They also have a bit of history with them, some paperwork and a diary from the guy that used them and a few photos of them in action.

Would be worth listing them in a specialist auction or by going onto a forum that specialised in that sort of thing, I'm a member of airgunbbs dot com and they have sale boards where you might get some interest

I dont want to sell them I want to look at them.
I have a pair of fibreglass pike in curved glass display cases which are strangely enough worth more than real pike in the same case???.
I know how much the pike are worth but was intrested to see what the guns are worth, although Im sure that a swap would suit him more financially than it would me but they look the business and the pike dont really suit my lounge any more, not that a pair of mounted machine guns will either.
There is a space in my hallway bookcase thats perfect for them and they might scare off the mother in law, although a crucifx and some garlic would probably work better..

Is it weird to think that looks absolutely awesome? Would love to have that displayed in the house, don't think the missus would approve though!

The guy has a WWII demountable field workshop truck for servicing field guns for sale also, complete with all the fixtures.bout twelve ton of 4x4 truck with no power brakes or steering with a petrol engine!
It looks like it could push a house down.
I would love to take that as well but I`d be sleeping in it if I took that home.

If its all matching, then easy £1700-£2000. I recently had an offer of £1800 for my .50 Browning. Which is all matching.

I've got an all matching Bren and and all matching Enfield (well its a Lithgow (sp) made in Australia) I paid 200 and 220 for each respectively about 10 years ago...they have been on the wall since....anybody have any idea of current valuses?

I also have two 1796 pattern light cavalry sabres, one is a brass hilted yeomanry officers....paid 130 and 160 respectively for them..no scabbards though frown

Good question.

I've been looking at getting rid of my deactivated 1938 Mosin Nagant. I can only spot one on that milweb, and it's a 43 not a 38.

Mine is identical to the 4th one down:

Any ideas on the value?scratchchin

A lot of bolt action stuff is not worth that much. Stuff like Garands,Thompsons,M1 Carbines, MP 40-44,s SLR. GPMG, all on old spec pre-95 have rocketed in recent years. I paid £270 for my Garand 15 years ago. Saw a dealer knocking poor examples out at a show last year for £1,200.

It would not surprise me if it was even worth more than that if the diary and photos that are with it are any good. I have heard of people paying some quite silly money for 'battle worn' equipment that can be traced to an individual person.

I wonder if that has come about since Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers?

I would dearly love to collect some WW2 militaria but having weapons is pretty much a big no no in my part of the world. As I understand it even a deactivated rifle or pistol requires the owner to have a full license and you cant keep the thing in the open frown

People who deactivate firearms need shafting. A deact is an obscenity, like a car with no engine.
