Washing the car today .. and seen this on the car drinking the water off the roof, it was quite docile . but huge, never seen anything like it. It was a fly, not a wasp or bee. it was just over an inch in length.

The main question for me is what was it doing with a key!

Yep just looked online it was deffo a horse fly. Never seen one this big before. I'm guessing if you were bitten by this one you would know about it, as it flys off with your leg.

The mot is indeed new, just used it to catch it.

Not too sure why he had a key, it was a YALE key so I'm guessing he was out the house shopping, probably not for anything in particular maybe he was out shopping for any old sh*t.. I also understand he was on my car. Don't know what this tells me about my car to be honest.

If you want to see flys buy a yellow car, mine gets covered in them every time I park up.

Or maybe I should shower more often.biggrin

They start nagging you, telling you that you pay more attention to that "bloody car" than you do to me, and the like.

Females can be up to 50mm (2 inches) and they are bloodsuckers! Had one in my house a few years ago.
