How long does it take your OH to get ready for work...
Discussion
I've recently moved in with my girlfriend. All is well, but one little thing is really grating me and I don't know whether I'm being sane or not (most likely not.)
Now she's a pretty girl (I would say that) with nearly flawless skin and perfect features, yet she still feels the need to spend a good half an hour sitting there just doing her makeup, and another 25 minutes curling her beautiful hair. To me this is the level of preparation for a night out, not a trip to the office.
This wouldn't bother me so much if I didn't have to drive her to work, as inevitably she's late up and won't sacrifice any of the many layers of preparation to get out of the door on time. This in turn makes me late, so arguments ensue.
Obviously this is the first girl I've ever lived with, but my previous girlfriends didn't seem to spend so much time preening without an occasion.
Is this normal?

be kind
If your hairs not curly and you want curly hair, you have to spend time doing that.
Persuade her that her natural hair style is best and maybe you could cut it down by 20 mins or so.
For work I shower, do my make up and hair every morning and maximum it would take is 45 mins. (this includes having breakfast, a cup of tea, feed cat and having a nice chat with boyfriend)
I could cut that down if needed though easily.
If I took as long as your girlfriend getting ready every single morning, I would dread waking up every day.
Make up should take 10 mins max for a full face really, and as you say she is pretty flawless, then she could just do a bit of highlighting her features which should only take 5 mins or so.
Once a week is enough for a face pack to keep skin looking good every day.

Totally normal. My ex who I lived with for eight years was the same. Absolutely beautiful but still felt the need to spend forever getting ready to go anywhere. My advice? You're living with a lovely girl - Think yourself lucky, smile, shake your head and think to yourself "bless her". I'd love to still have a problem like that!
To my shame (sort of) I have started abandoning my GF in the mornings, admitedly we take the tube rather then drive. For me leaving 15 mins later, with her, actually adds about an extra 45 mins of being squished into a moving sauna with sweaty people who appear to have not brushed their teeth.
Yes I have thought about just getting up earlier, but quite frankly that can just f
k right off.
London Underground, it makes you proud.

Perfectly normal also perfectly normal for her to say she only takes 5 minutes if you ever bring it up.
Wait till you are planning on going ot somewhere you will be suited and booted then sit on the setee for an hour only for her to come down stairs then go back up and change outfits again. The all do it,but they will all protest that they don't(but they do)

SOOOO glad mine is naturally gorgeous and hates loads of makeup, so its the bare minimum... so makeup has been replaced with... sorting of the hair takes ages....
I usually kick her out of bed first, get 30mins more sleep (thats her just in the shower) and then I do the 3 S's and im ready to leave before she is....

Thanks for all the comments guys (and girl), I'll have to start setting all the clocks in the house forward by 15 minutes.
Given my commute is down the A1, and the Hatfield tunnel starts to close from next week I can see this becoming a real issue without some sort of time travel or a magic carpet!
Why are the prettiest ones always the ones with the worst self image.

My Mrs gets out of bed, puts on her dressing gown and wanders over to her laptop and starts work.
So. No. She doesn't take hours.
Just one of the many reasons I love her dearly. We aren't late getting out of the house for work.
But, heavens, the palaver if we go out for the evening. She doesn't do the "full job" very often so when she does - it takes ages. I have to encourage her to get started early as otherwise we would simply get to the point where it was no longer worth leaving.

I have a friend of mine (not my girlfriend, fortunately!) who takes -without exception- 3 hours minimum to get ready for a night out. When I asked exactly what took so long, she listed the things she does. This included (and I kid you not) putting her feet in a sock with moisturiser in it to soak in. But even when going through everything else - shaving, nails, hair, I still can't see where that time goes?!

We do no..ah crap. Seriously though, if she's naturally beautiful, she shouldnt have to take anywhere near that long! I'm no way near naturally beautiful (all together now, aaaw) and it only takes me about 45mins to get ready for work. Much prefer the extra time in bed..
Perhaps that's where I'm going wrong though - maybe I should be spending more time getting ready in the mornings?!
