I need two pairs for holiday use. Need to look alright but not be mega expensive (30 quid tops) to last me the holiday and for 12 months or so after.

Looked on a few websites but any good makes like lacoste etc seem to be over 60 quid, any ideas?

What do you need them to do?

If its just general wear, then I find Stan Smith addidas ones last a very long time and don't look to bad in a sensible colour scheme. Ebay has them around £30.

Adidas Goodyear, or some of those Ferrari Puma jobs - with Oakleys too.

Pistonheads has no sense of style, so you'll get no good sugestions here.

Just get some run of the mill Nikes from TK Maxx, and never get sea water near them or they'll stink forever.

Mexico.

They're £30 on ebay for a reason, they're fakes. Most adidas trainers on that site are 100% fake.

http://www.superstardb.com/fake-spotting-f-10.html

This site is dedicated mainly to adidas superstars but the same applies to all adidas trainers when looking to see if they're fake or not.

£50-60 is usually the price to pay for a pair of Stans or Superstars.

Ive had 4 pairs of stans and they have been the weakest shoes I have ever owned (3 different variaties, one pair twice because they were mint).

If you buy a pair of skate shoes though, (adio, dc, etnies etc etc etc) they last forever, and are extremely comfortable.
Down to personal preferance I suppose, worth a look though

Can't go wrong with converse in my book. Cheap, had mine for over a year now and somehow look better the more worn in they get. Just sling em in the washer every so often.

+1 for Etnies. I'm on my third pair now and they go on and on for ever. Pairs 2 and 3 are over 5 years old, get worn every other day and are still going strong. Unfortunately the first pair died in the mud of Glastonbury (they survived the mud but 2 weeks after coming back grass was growing in them frown), otherwise I'm pretty sure they'd still be going too. Probably a bit out of budget (about 60 notes for a pair), but worth it for the time they last.

Skate shoes often look ridiculous and make a mid twenties year old man look like a teenager.

I have had my Stan Smith ones for three years, still going ok.

It all depends what you want them for, sports or general loafing.
Have a look at your local factory outlet stores.
I've had great success at
Bicester(J7 M40)Puma store-Alexander McQueen range at upto 70% off.

Ashford MacArthur Glen has a big Nike store-loads of stuff upto 70% off, a very good Adidas store with loads of good stuff including re-issue Vintage Gazelles, Porsche Design at upto 75% off.

TK Maxx- Normally have Adidas Stan Smiths at £30 a go, had mine 4 years and they go through the washing machine every so often to keep them mint.

Ebay is also good, they are not ALL FAKE as previously stated.

+1 I recently 'inherited' a pair of Adios after my son grew out of them, and they are very comfortable indeed
