Just out of interest really but;

Have any of you wanted kids and your Other half hasn't?

Be it to be a first time parent or trying for child number 2,3 etc

Im in that situation right now.

I have a son from a previous relationship.

New fiancee wants a child, i do not.

Its not easy at all.

But i am standing my ground, as in the long run its better to not have a child if you are not a 100% sure that is what you want to do.

men rarely change their minds when it comes to having kids.

I have a daughter and i am content with that, although i am open to having more. smile

No, but I've had women try to shack up with me who have kids already and see me as an easy ticket.....

Never really wanted kids, my wife has 2 from a former marriage who were in there teenage years when me and my wife met. We did discuss having our own but in the end decided to put all our energies into her current 2, which has panned out quite well given that 1 of the children has a very bad ongoing illness and requires a lot of help and assistance. More children would have over-complicated matters. I do occasionally get pangs of regret but realise that this is just pipe dreaming, especially when I hear the woes of my friends with young children.

Neither of us wanted kids.

Would have been a problem if we hadn't seen eye to eye on that, I think.

Yeah, I'm ready for kids now and have been for a couple of years. Mrs Arese-to-be wants to wait until we're married though (May 2010). It's all about compromise, so I'll just wait.

No.

She doesn't want one. I don't want one. Everyone's happy.

If that were to change for one of us but not the other there'd have to be a lot of discussion......

It can be one of those rare relationship-breakers where you're both crazy about each other but if one wants kids and the other doesn't, and you are both adamant, there's no option but to part. Very sad.

Personally, I can't imagine having a child to please a partner or for 'a quiet life'. Recipe for disaster....

Whether they both agree about having / not having kids is the first thing anyone should consider before getting married, IMO. More non-breeders here, by the way.

Having this problem at the moment.

I don't want them. (i'm 27) I have no idea if this will change in the future.

She is 22 and wants them in the future.

This is casuing problems.

I didn't, she did. She suggested, since I was so adamant, that I should have the snip. I refused to have my equipment sullied. We had 2 kids smile

Future being the key word, if you stay together long enough to consider getting married then it will be a problem.
