Question about suction

How does it work?

Yes I know it is atmospheric pressure pushing into a vacuum, but bear with me:

A snakebite kit includes a suction pump that you are meant to use to suck venom out of the wound. On bare skin it sucks up so much flesh that you get a knob of flesh stuck deep into the tube.

Obviously a vacuum is created in the pump, but how does atmospheric pressure get behind the skin to push it into the tube?

Ta.

And no I haven't! The pump is much too small!

Your body is at atmospheric pressure too - otherwise the outside atmospheric pressure would crush you.
