If you reply with STOP (in capitals) they MUST immediately stop sending messages. If the texts continue then you should get in touch with PhonePayPlus (formerly ICSTIS) - 0800 500 212 - they will take immediate action.
PhonepayPlus has the following information about the shortcode number 89999.
This is a text message service charged at premium rate. The types of services operating on this number can be ring tones, jokes, games tarot, chat, mobile internet services (WAP) and more.
•This service costs £1.50 per text
If you would like to find out more about this service you should contact the company listed below.

Service providers must inform you if you are signing up for a subscription text service, you should get a free message first contain cost, bill frequency etc - if they do not send this message then Phonepayplus comes down VERY hard on them and it's likely even the threat of a complaint will get you a refund. (Code of Practice 7.12.4) - Did your mates delete this message or did the company never send it?
Also if you spend more than £20 they must resend all the subscription information, as a free message, again if they have not done this then they have broken the code of practice (7.12.5) and again the threat of complaint should get you your money back.
