Is that a good idea ?
It will just for for a night as it is aimed at work... on a thursday in the summer, are there going to be issues getting everyone into a club / bar
Anyone who lives doen there or a regular that can give me a good idea? Just wanted beers by the sea in the sunshine..

Make sure everyone brings photo ID, or they won't get in anywhere.
I also heard that in larger groups one or more members of the group generally have to hand in their photo-ID and collect it when they leave. Something to do with it discouraging troublemakers.
Not something I'd fancy doing with my passport, really.

Yeah, that's not quite what the groom had in mind when he asked you to make sure he got his chocolate wings on his stag night...
Anyway, if you avoid the chav-holes on West Street and stick to some of the more "adult" (as in, older clientele rather than porno den) places you should be fine. I would love to name some, but it's been nigh on 15 years since I went clubbing in Brighton.

If you're going for a beer on the seafront you should be fine. A lot of the bars in the town do have "No Stag/Hen Dos" on the door though, so a large group of lads may find it harder to get in to the more obvious town centre places. Most of the clubs are on the seafront, but you may need to split the group & bring ID to get in. They once had a policy of asking for proof of address and only allowing locals in, though this has relaxed now.
Avoid West Street like the plague (has the Odeon cinema on it at the end), unless you like chavs and street fights.
There are plenty of nice pubs all over the place, but depends what you are looking for, There's a Spearmint Rhino too if it's that's kind of stag do!

I wrote to the manager of the club we wanted to goto and after a few emails convinced him a group of 30 something professionals were not going to stab anyone got a letter of introduction to get the group past the doorman.
The club was the Event, chosen for historical reasons as that was the place to go when the groom and I were at school.

Seafront not an issue - open till late a generally good laugh. East street and the bars down that end are a real PITA for groups of lads. Can take ages to get in and longer to get served. Oh and avoid the a "bar" with a name similar to 'Hitcher and Pea-an-oh' in East Street. It took 40 minutes to get a drink there a few weeks ago - some rookie barmaid on a busy saturday night was reading recipies off a book.... Not impressive.
West Street has perfect stag bar brawl potential as well as lots of Hens out en masse - easy to spot, high skirts and low virtues. Enjoy.

Where were you at school? The club was the Event, chosen for historical reasons as that was the place to go when the groom and I were at school.
OP - The Event (or Event II as I believe it is now called) is part of the West Street that is mentioned above as part of the no-go zone. Although their 80s night was pretty good. Not as good as The Gloucester though.
back from a stag in brighton a couple weeks ago.
generally ok group wise. one place under the arches on the sea front (name escapes me) got a bit grumpy, even though we had split up and given head start to first grou petc. ended up with one of the guys having to convince doorman through showing his door supervisor card as he was bouncer too.
spearmints was cool. went to a comedy club for laughs and a bite to eat and that was great.

Yes - its a good place and nice and lively. Just got back from a stag do there a month ago which was a good fun.It will just for for a night as it is aimed at work... on a thursday in the summer, are there going to be issues getting everyone into a club / bar

Stayed at the "My Hotel" which had a good cocktail bar. Clubs on the beach are good. Spearmints was suitably smutty.
No problems at all (except the parking ticket I picked off my car on the Sunday morning)

I once went to a stag do in Brighton. We went on the pier and purchased the worlds most expensive fish and chips.
Whilst taking position looking out of the pier to eat, an albatross swooped down and stole my fish.
Albatross, in Brighton!Whilst taking position looking out of the pier to eat, an albatross swooped down and stole my fish.

Sure it wasnt a, er, big hungry seagull?
