This is not a holiday question or a sport question, so I think this is in the right place...isn't it?! I'm confused, but anyway.

Anyone been to Camber Sands? Anything good to do in the area in the evenings?

I'm going down there with the lads to learn Kite Surfing this weekend. What's the nightlife like? I.e. pubs, bars. We're not interested in Clubbing, just some nice bars really.

Got stuff for the days sorted out and will be heading to Lydd for some karting too!

Cheers

What a dump. Really. Cycled through it in Easter and it acted as an accelerant. Endless strip of miserable bungalows behind a monster sea wall. Nearby Rye is much, much better. One of the prettiest towns in the UK I reckon, with lots of good pubs and a few decent restaurants, including Spike Milligan's favourite Indian (so the B&B woman told us)

Good for Kite surfing though. Bloody windy, with lots of flat beach.

Haven't been there in a while as I moved away from the area a few years ago but from what I remember there are a few pubs and not too much else, a classic english sea side resort that has seen better days. However it awsome for learning to kite surf. I used to go there for a kite groundboarding and it was top notch. Have fun, you will be too shattered each night to want to drink too much!!!smile

I think these two things don't really go together.

Nightlife? It has some holiday camps...

I don't think I've seen a pub down there.

However, the road from Dungeness to Camber (Military Road I think) is an absolute peach.

Then join the A259 and go to Rye.

That will, in fact, be a better option than trying to find somewhere half acceptable to drink in Camber by a factor of several thousand, unless, that is, you feature in the picture below:

So...Camber?

Nice beach at least and perfect for kite surfing!

Found an interesting shop there too, not quite sure what they're selling though......

It goes without saying that the real action happens at Camber Sands campsite, lots of clunge their apperently. Just don't be tempted to take your shoes off and go "skidding" at the family disco!

I once spent an hour there on the beach. It was like being sand-blasted for 60 minutes.
I'm not going back.
