Not very. I was told the same, then got an install appointment in 2 weeks.

I think I was told 10 weeks and I got it in 4.

You could go direct to a local installer. They will usually still supply the box at £49 thought the install charge may vary a bit. I was put-off by the 3 month stories - my local chap did it within a week.

My OH was quoted 3 months as well. She was only told this by email a few days after ordering it so canceled it.

I have it but it is not worth the extra 8 quid (or is it 10 still) per month in my opinion, and the sky + HD boxes are the most temperamental according to a sky employee (who i had to phone when mine went wrong)!

I think it depends on which box you get - Pace are supposed to be the best with Samsung a close 2nd. Amstrad & Thomson boxes are the worst apparently.

That would make sense as mine is a thompson box.

It failed 3 weeks after the years warranty expired, this also happened on my original sky box, i am convinced there is a conspiracy going on, or am i just paranoid scratchchin

edited because the smilies outwitted me

Personally, I think the HD upgrade is totally worth it. Even though my TV upscales SD very well, the difference in picture quality and sound is remarkable.

It's almost as good as my old CRT was wink

I'd agree with the Pace recommendation.

The Samsung box that has just gone into a job we've done has been nothing but trouble however.

Plotloss in Samsung criticism shock.......rofl

O/T have just had HD put in and it's fantastic, (even on my Samsung plasma) wink

I had to wait the whole three months though, whereas my Dad booked it the same day as me and had it fitted in under 3 weeks....it's probably a post code lottery.

Is this the cheap deal they're doing?

Parents signed up to it about 3 months ago and finally got it installed on Saturday...So was pretty accurate for them!

I'm sure it's just demand outstripping supply with the deals they have on.

My mate works for a company who Sky outsource installations and service calls to.

The delay is that is for the boxes and the fact Sky are replacing all the Thomson ones with the superior models. Hence a shortage of HD boxes.

In my opinion it is worth an extra £10 a month, but then I watch a lot of sports.

It's a Samsung i've got - i've had it for about 2 months now (roughly) and it's crashed once, when the clocks changed. Just waiting on the new sky guide so I can get ITV HD.

I had mine installed today by a local company. Couldn't be botherred to wait 3 months so rang them up Friday afternoon and it's now fitted and working well.

Yip, we were quoted 12 weeks and it did indeed take 12 weeks.

Friends of ours new to Sky - within two weeks.

I couldn't be bothered fighting with them so just let it be.
