Just thought I would warn folk that another scam is doing the rounds from Fairchild Publications, basically they call up claiming a "package is waiting for you" and then ask if you want the books delivered...... (ie urging a yes or no answer I suspect)

We found this a bit odd and so asked what the books are and are they free to which the lady "Ruth" attempted to avoid the question and instead told us "You ordered them last October and they are now ready for delivery". In addition to this we were told it was part of a "books for schools" scheme where local business help out schools in the area.

Eventually she informed us that these were not free, and that we had confirmed an order on the phone in October and that an invoice is to be sent with the books.

We never ordered any books, would not order anything from a cold-caller and so know that this person is NOT genuine. They claim to "record all calls for cases like this" and will take legal action if necessary to recoup costs rolleyes

I did a google search and it appears this has been going on for a while:-

I find it staggering that these people will go to so much trouble calling people, invoicing them, chasing for payment etc etc for something that surely can't be all that productive?

Considering that their details would have to be known in order for them to receive payment, it's an indictment of how little regard they have for the law.

It's been going on for a few years but they are incredibly persistent when they ring up. They once insisted I'd ordered them and when I pressed them for a date it turned out I was on holiday!
They hung up...
