As per the question really. Not after mint, or collectors coins, just the old large pre '97 50 pence coins.

Because where I live has old coin gas meter (because it is tapped of a feed for the whole property) - stupid, I know....

We just recycle the coins back through the meter. But the landlord has gone on holidays, and only he can get into it, and I am out of coins and on gas rations!

Just a quick idea

When you were doing the 50p in a meter before, why didnt you have one on a bit of string for these occasions?

Infact, why not ever time you needed to pay? biggrin

Or a section of strimmer line with the business end warmed gently and curled to roughly the correct radius paperbag

Does it have the old style lock that the mater used to come with still?

Because, *cough*, you can pick them rather easily with a hairpin.

My father may or may not have done this when I was a kid. *cough*

100 years ago when I rented a room with a leccy meter in it, you could, I mean it looked as if you could, just unscrew the two wingnuts on the front and stick a knife in to stop the wheel going round...
