Off to see Tina Turner tonight at the arena. Just wondering if anyone knows what the parking arrangements are like? Are they secure, or known for the thieves? Is it easy to get out of after a gig?
Last time i went to a gig was the KC stadium in Hull and was stuck in the car park for two hours trying to get out.
I have to be home sharpish as i have baby gti from 7am tomorrow as mrs gti is working, and so want as much sleep as possible.

I always get there early to bag an end space close to the exit for a rapid departure! Never had a problem parked there - security is pretty good I think.

Give yourself plenty of time as the traffic can be horrendous.

Traffic getting in or out? Was planning on parking as near the exit as i can. Sat nav gives it 2hrs from my place. I was planning on leaving 2 1/2hrs before doors open. I have seats so not worried about getting there to queue, more concerned about being sat in the car park for 2hrs trying to get out like last time i went to a gig.

We normally park at Meadowhall and walk the last bit, only 10 mins or so. You can Park at Meadowhall Retail Park too, but for a big gig like that, it will probably be busy too and supposedly, they clamp/fine people who are not actually shopping there, but I've not heard of it actually happening.

All in all, its never that bad to get out, even for bigger bands like Kaiser Chiefs it only takes 15-20 mins to get to the motorway

Never had a problem with parking, plenty of overflow carparks around the area, got out in minutes a few weeks ago when i went to see the prodigy.

DO NOT park at the Meadowhall retail park, they have ANPR and you will get an automatic fine if you're there more than 2 hours.

Well it must be broken smile besides which it takes Mrs Maul far more then 2 hours to faff around all the shops there!

Mind you, the amount I have spent in toys r us over the years, they should be giving me my own private parking bay!

Jut got in from Tina Turner - £200, 180 miles and 10hrs later - now 200+ photos to edit and upload - what an awesome night. Parking was spot on - was on the first row from both the arena and the exit - so got out in under 15 minutes thanks to a friendly cop. Still in awe - by far the best gig i have ever been to!

Are you sure?
I used to park in the retail section, then use the Park & Ride over to nunnery square. Was always quicker to leave the retail section (outside M&S,) than to queue in the 'official' P&R parking bays.

They've had ANPR at Meadowhall on all entry/exit points for years, but never told anybody. Police use it and have had some results with 'vehicles of interest' and Meadowhall does use it to flag up your patterns of car park use, but I don't think they're clamping people yet.
