really nice pebbles - where to get some...
Discussion
Can anybody recommend a beach to pick up some good pebbles? I need them for a photographic project. I went to Brighton today & might as well have gone to a builders merchants as there is quantity, but not quality! It was a good excuse to take Noggin Jnr to the seaside, but now I need to resume my mission. They need to be something like this :

and preferably South East England - reachable by a train from London ( not asking much am I ? ) . How are places like Whitstable, Worthing, Southend etc?
Cheers, Noggin.

A pebble is a pebble isn't it?
Surely?
Not in this instance. I need them for a beautiful still-life photograph. Think stepping-stones leading off to infinity for an advertising image. Then go to Brighton beach and it just looks like 'Wickes 20 Kg bag of aggregate' . Surely?
I think I remember Lyme Regis having nice pebbles, but I don't want to go that far or they will be expensive ( in time & travel costs ) pebbles.
Chesil Beach has billions of pebbles.
However, if you get caught pinching them, the authorities will take your nuts and hang them from the nearest lamppost...
Other than that, have you tried your nearest Garden Centre? They usually have bags full of decorative pebbles for about £5 a bag.
If you are in London, you must have a decent selection nearby.

List of beaches and how to get there. Doesn't say if they are pebbley though.

Why not get some smart top quality (no riff-raff) pebbles and put them close to your lens - saving the poor quality (riff-raff) pebbles further away!! Open up so you get a beautiful boket. Everyone's a winner!
Sorry that doesn't help.
Chesil beach is probbly your best bet,but iirc its 17 miles and the pebbles vary throughout
