Home insurance help!

Scenario:
I joint own with a friend. We hope to sell early next year. In the meantime, I will be staying at my GF's for 6 months, and his GF will be staying at mine, paying me £X per month for the privelage. In that time, my payments for bills/mortgage etc will be going in to the joint account as normal, and paid out to the debtors as normal from this account.
All in all, a fairly loose arrangement on the rent has been made with my housemate's GF so that we can all move on a little...
Now, house insurance has been paid upfront at the start of the year as normal. My bills/mail etc will still go to my old address, so in essence this is still my main address, although someone else will be living there with the other joint owner/insurance policy holder.
Is it worth notifying the insurance company, God forbid the worst happened and the place burned down?
As it's such an informal rent situation, is it worth going through the hassle of changing everything?
Thanks for any advice.

Hmmm does she, her partner or yourself own any guinea pigs? If you fail to notify the insurance company of any changes, in the event of an accident or guinea pig genocide, they may refuse to pay out.
With insurance, it's always best to notify of even the smallest detail to protect yourself from having your claim voided.
Have you considered the impact that this loose arrangement could have on your guinea pig. They are very susceptible to stress and this unofficial arrangement could cause them anxiety issues, leading to more serious stress related illness.

tell them. you may find its not an issue and your insurance extends to your OH's place as its a temp. move. my parents home insurance covered me the entire time i was at uni for this reason.
Thanks for the reply. I'm not worried about covering my GF's house; it's covering mine even though I'm not there, and someone else (although she is partner of the other joint owner / policy holder) is informally renting off me.Gassing Station | The Lounge | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
