Dissenters - why do you tihnk P&P has been split?
Discussion
I haven't got my tin foil hat on but I don't think it's been done for any sinister reason at all.
I do think they've come up with what has been thought a good idea to make the site better, the problem is that most of us who use the site think differently.
Just because Haymarket own the site, doesn't neccessarily mean that all the changes are going to be because it makes more money, at least not initially.
If the changes do make the site more popular, then it will make it more profitable, but that's not something you'll find me complaining about.
I just think they'll do the opposite and make the site less accessible and therefore less profitable in the long term.

Agree with that, but whatever the reasons for the changes they've managed to make it less usable. I do think they've come up with what has been thought a good idea to make the site better, the problem is that most of us who use the site think differently.

I suspect it's something to do with the sheer number and diversity of topics in the old P&P, for the mods to try and sort it was probably a nightmare. i think it's a good idea to try and create some subsections, but the current format looks like it will need revising as it seems too fragmented.
I like new things, but sometimes people have to admit when it's not quite gone to plan.

I think your probably right, but why not solve it by creating more mods? I've seen the list of mods (on another thread, possibly on the Website Feedback forum) and there doesn't seem to be many of them. There are bound to be quite a few sensible level-headed long standing members who could assist with moderation of PH.

According to the poll about 1,000 people think differently; which is a bit different to 'most of us' when you consider that there are 60,000'ish registered regular posters...
Ghettoization.
When the Nazis came for the communists,
I remained silent;
I was not a communist.
When they locked up the social democrats,
I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.
When they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.
When they came for the Jews,
I remained silent;
I wasn't a Jew.
When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out.

Interesting thoughts people have even if some do seem a bit paranoid.
What do you think?
