The only possible way to make this acceptable is to work to defeat them from within.
Mess up films, calibrate incorrectly, do anything you can to balls them up & don't worry about getting fired- it's the public sector ( I think)

Go for it!

Just remember to set all cameras to "trip" at 88mph because "I saw that on a film once, and cars do funny things at that speed"

Seriously, if you can get them to move them away from good roads and in front of schools etc that you will actually be doing everyone a favour.

He could work as insider for us. I got flashed 3 weeks ago but nothings come through yet, he might be able to find out if the camera had a film etc.

Yup - put a tyre round his neck and pyro away!

However, I like the chaos that could be affected. As they say, keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

You're going to get a pretty predictible response in here. Burn him being a good start, if a little liberal in my opinion.

On the plus side, if you don't have the job someone else will.

On the negative side, have you considered asking your "real" friends how they would react.
I'm not sure everyone would want a speedcam operator in their immediate circle. (Not as bad as one of the s who sits on a bridge in the back of a van, but not much better)

ETA, Wasn't there originally some pretty horrendous stats for the maintenance guys leaving after fairly short periods as they couldn't hack the level of gerneral abouse (mainly verbal, very occassionally physical) they received form the public. Some guys had to go out with a police escort after a while.

Thats true, I have however consulted them. As long as they are aware of the 'real' & 'dummy' locations they are fine with it and I wont be burned biggrin. If I'm chatting up a fine lass though I may need to change my job title to 'RAF Pilot' in real PH fashion wink instead of being walloped with her bag if I told her I was the techie who responsible for her 3 points and fine when she sped through a camera last week!.

Well, it's a job. More than many people have got at the moment. I don't see anything wrong in going for it if you want to. You can always keep applying for better things while you're there. smile

It might be an idea to ask 'why did the previous postholder leave?'

If the response is:

"...he was Gang-VBRJ'd to death -and there was still a queue..."

you may want to rethink.

I think the low number of applicants for the job "bare handed sewage sifter" means it's a walk in position, so he doesn't really need to apply for better things....

Why?

I don't like st pre-packed ready meals, but I regularly go to fix equipment at a factory that makes them.

Not many good B roads for hooning have speed cameras, so how does he make him a hypocrite.

I don't really see the problem with speed cameras, big huge waste of money if you ask me. My Sat Nav tells me where they are, they are signed and mostly fairly obvious. Bit pointless if you ask me.
