I foolishly parked my car in leisure park (cctv and people milling about all day) close to Canada Water station yesterday afternoon and got the tube to work, when I returned at 8pm some kids were hanging around it, literally a second after i saw them one bent down by the rear wheel to do god knows what, I shouted and they got on their bikes and cycled about 20 m away and watched me drive off. I decided against giving chase since they would have had plenty of time to cycle another 20 m away and I was knackered. Several other instances have happened that make me think the world would be a much safer, less graffiti covered place if kids weren't allow out after dark.

I'm going to write to my MP suggesting it but wanted some feedback on:

How old - I say under 16 as it's school age
When - 8pm week days

Any suggestions?

Had the same thing where my girlfriend lived a year ago. The village had a 9pm curfew for under 16 year olds.
It works if the police enforce it. Studley's quite a small place so it wasn't difficult but larger towns may struggle to be everywhere at once.

Maybe the curfew should be in place until they get a job and start living in the real world!! wink

Don't you just hate it though when you drive through stty bits of town at 11pm and there are still little kids hanging about?

I've seen kids in parts of Glasgow out after midnight that can't be any older than 5.

You can't help but hate their parents for obviously not giving a toss.

I totally and completely disagree with this.

Why should the overwhelming majority suffer just because the state can't keep a small minority in check?

Children at a Leisure Centre...what ever next rolleyes

To get a little perspective, children are currently on their Easter break, so I would say 8pm is not to late for those of secondary school age. The Leisure Centre may well run a youth club, so the children may have been attending.

Maybe the child bent down by your car was just hiding from one of his mates, you know playing like children do.

Probably taking the dustcaps off your car for their bike.

Just what the UK needs: more restrictions on safe, harmless activities because some people do unsafe or harmful things that are vaguely related to them.

This is exactly why we need ID cards.

When a bunch a rosy cheeked scamps are spotted on the street, our friendly beat bobby can approach them with the soon to be traditional greeting of 'Evening all, lads. What's going on here then? Papiren, kinder schweinhunds, raus raus!! and instantly, intantly, tell wether they should be left to go on their way or sent to the Ministry of Re-education for some jolly good Arbeit Macht Frei.

I'm all for it.

I also believe the insidious Jew is somehow to blame for this situation.

However, re: the issue at hand, perhaps if we could round up all these children and place them in some sort of camp? A camp where they could be taught to appreciate the value of self discipline and hard work over selfish malaise.... A "concentration camp" if you will?

Might not have explained myself, no youth club, it's cinema, restaurant type complex. These kids weren't there to pick up a pizza or watch a film, they were there to nick bits of my car, the only reason it didn't happen is I happened to catch them.

As for a comparison with Hitler i think we've just fulfilled one of the golden rules of internet forums.

It is a rant, I do want to stop the kids doing what they want, because what they want to do is damage my property.

Last weekend i shouted at a couple of hoodies who crawled under the entrance gate to the development opposite mine. There's a nice Cayman parked in there. Should I have just watched? Maybe they get more confident because everyone seems scared of them and they start taking real liberties, maybe snatch my wifes back.

I don't think law abiding adults should tollerate bad behaviour by kids.

If I had the time I'd scour the web for a cartoon of someone f**king a hippy because that I how i feel about talk of protecting their civil liberties!

No offence intended to anyone posting on here, I'm just a little angry.

Bad behaviour like taking advantage of living in a free country where you are allowed to go out in public?

No, like damaging/stealing his property.

Yes, I understand and it makes no difference. Your suggestion is to make being out in public illegal. What is bad about being out in public?

If they were thieving, causing criminal damage or doing assaults, those things are all already illegal.

Causing criminal damage and thieving are illegal. They are also a different thing to being out in public.

Somebody should regulate that.
