..are actual places?
Im obviously in the minority not doing this but I always get a bit confused when people say things like
"come in, pull up a chair-help yourself to coffee and biscuits" as though they are sitting in a room and people have come in, when really they aren't and nobody has come in.
I find it an utterly bizarre phenomenon.
Before people start shouting at me (or should I say -typing angry things?) I accept that my view is the minority thus I am genuinely trying to understand what makes people do this.
THanks you please.

Of all the micro-irritations you have concerned yourself with, this has to be the most inspired in terms of banality.

Keep it up.

NOt an irritation, just a curiosity.
Talking of banality are you going to pop on to every post I make and make a near identical comment?
It a bit like having a really crap stalker. But less interesting.

It's all about setting the scene and sometimes as a jokey reference to the fact that forums are 'imaginary' for want of a better word.
I consider it similar to reading what you've typed out loud to check for grammatical errors.
Its a humorous take on the situation. Imagine PistonHeads as a building containing different rooms for each subject, it helps people to relate and 'talk' as they would or want to, in real life.
It's like another world man, it's more real than you think. wink

I am discombobulated too, its ok.

Once we get our space in order and grab our corner we can bring in our mates and have a beer or two. Give it time. smile

emptional empathy and shared experience creates a sense of belonging...

If you don't get it, tends to mean you have a heart of glass, the compassionless eyes of a killer snake, and are utterly devoid of any form of emotional bonding.

Failing that... you; just don't get it. But is there actually anything to 'get'?

OMG, put some fking clothes on your pervert!

And you Mrs Fish. You should be ashamed of yourself wearing something like that in a place like this. Though I do like the way you've coordinated with the handbag.

Can anyone help me lift this jukebox on the to wall. We'll need it for when the young'uns come in. You might need to use that stool to stand on though. No, the one next to it. Yeah, that one.
