Earlier this week I had a job at stanstead. On the way from the car park I spotted what looked like an open wallet laying on the floor. I walked over and picked it up. I'm sure somebody watched me pick it up, I could feel their eyes on me as I did so. Despite my honest intentions this still made me feel bad, as if I was stealing it.

Anyway I shoved it in my pocket and went and signed in. I then looked inside and spotted a rail ticket from stanstead to Doncaster. As I was about to do some work in the ticket office I decided against passing it one of the many coppers walking about and hanging on to it - she wouldn't be going to Doncaster without her ticket!

I was in the back of the office signing in when i heard the woman in panic mode asking if anything had been handed in. No they replied. 'wait up I yelled' pulling said item from my pocket. The look on the womans face was priceless

That got me wondering, is it rare these days for an honest person to hand stuff in? Do most lost items get picked up and kept?

I am an honest person, And I saw a guy on his phone just leaving the cashpoint, when he dropped a tenner on the floor, I got his attention and pointed to it.. He picked it up and acknoledged me.. then followed me into the sandwich shop...

I ordered my lunch... and paid for it...He didnt even offer to pay...lol.

But I would like to think someone would tell me if I dropped a tenner too.

She was the one watching you - she followed you in, and then put on a show asking if anyone had handed anything in... wink

Why would you expect it? Is this what society has come to then...

I found a pair of designer sunglasses on a walk. I looked around and walked back the way we had come as I suspected they belonged to a woman who had passed me 20 minute previously. I couldn't see her in the near distance. Given I had 2 children in a double buggy, I decided to complete my circular walk and hand them in at the nature reserve office when I got back - another 20 minutes. I got 10 minutes up the path and nearly back when some woman came running along looking for something - I asked her if she had dropped her sunglasses -to which she replied yes. I produced them from a buggy basket and she accused me of stealing them!

At which point they should have been dropped to the floor, accidentally of course!! Why would you give them to her if you had nicked them, some people are just complete s!!

Nowadays I wouldn't even have the balls to put it in my pocket for fear of recrimination. I would be holding it above my head and walking to the nearest copper. Chances are it would be a plant. I'm not paranoid much am I!

My bold!

It's not that women can muli-task it's just they lack the ability to prioritise things.

I have lost a wallet a couple of times, one time it was handed in to police the other time the person called me, I was surprised by the call. People remember the worst stories rather that the good ones, years ago Watchdog handed items into different train station lost property, most disappeared even now I would hand it in to the police rather than lost property.

I saw one of my neighbours had got a parking ticket(always parks his car on our Sq, must have got unlucky, so being the nice person I am I put my ticket (which still had some time to go and had been live since the beginning of the charge time) under his wiper so he could appeal it and win smile

Haven't ever met the person, but when I see them I will ask if they got away with it smile

I found a mobile in the gym the other night. Part of me said keep it, but my honest side prevailed and I handed it in.
It was only an old Sony Ericsson. The sad thing is I can't guarantee I'd have been as honest has it been something snazzy and worth alot ie an IPhone.

So deep down you are a bit of a slippery customer then?
