With 20 weeks to go, my missus still has not found bridesmaid dresses that she wants her girls to wear.

Too expensive, wrong style, winter colours still in the shops...you name it, it caused a problem. Not least we have 2 girls size 8 and 2 girls size 12-14....

Anyway, without being able to be specific other than preferred colour (minty green), are there any girls/boys who have managed to source dresses from unlikely places. Or does anyone have any contacts who make them?

In Hertfordshire.

Cheers!

I found that going to Bridal Stores produced such items?

You do know this is PH, right?

There are wedding websites - I can ask my OH if you like for the websites..

We got ours from a bridal shop. Have you tried one of those?

"A couple size 8, and a couple size 12 - 14"

Really not specific enough, could we have some more details ?? cup sizes would be a start

Was not expecting any responses really so thanks!

My point (which clearly I did not make!) is that she has been to most bridal stores in our area, all the high street alternatives (Monsoon, Coast etc) and can't find anything. That is not to say the shops are empty, but you don't just pick any old dress.

So my post was to find out if anyone else struggled this much and what they did/where they went in the end.

And yes, I forgot that PH is full of old grumpy TVR drivers wink

Reduce the number of bridesmaids.

I found my bridesmaid dresses in Debenhams of all places.
They were quite simple in style though, no major flounces or frilly bits.

i'm getting mine along with my wedding dress off ebay. theres loads! made to measure and really cheap. can get them altered if they dont just fit when they arrive or most of the sellers will make a new dress at no extra charge.

debenhams have some nice stuff in and BHS, as mentioned there are plenty of bridal shops, have you searched online? she must be very fussy!

Try http://www.wedding-inspiration.co.uk/ in Sawbrigdeworth, Herts
or http://www.bride-all.co.uk in Newmarket, Suffolk

I am in the wedding business (chauffeur car) and can vouch for both of these companies.

Good luck

What Ebay shop was that?

Kind of, but I can see her point. They need to perfect, especially for photos. Ones she does like are £175 each!

Just out of interest how much have you budgeted for 4 dresses?

My GF has just spent £400 on two, and we have just found out that my sister in law who is going to be one of the bridesmaids is up the duff! GF is not happy!

I can get her to suggest some makes when I get home.

We had a similar problem as she originally wanted a shade of green. In the end she found a nicer dress in pewter.

Really can't see the point in spending a fortune on the bridesmaids dresses - we spent £125 on each and they also don't look like a traditional bridesmaid dress meaning they can be worn again for an evening event or similar.

PS - Your in Bedford aren't you? If so my wife and her team are very good at bridal hair (she has her own salon in the town)

Aiming for max £100 per dress - Monsoon/Coast etc seem to vary between £60-180.
