Nothing yet, but don't forget every 'bargain' is either an individual losing money or a business losing profit... it's a vicious circle.

A 2 bedroon flat in Manchester.

A friend bought it about 2 years ago for 335k but has been struggling recently.
I bought it off him for 215 last week.

It's going to be a corporate let for the time being.

Isn't it great to be able to lend a helping hand to a friend?

Are the Jan sales going to be bigger this year, or do you think retailers won't bother getting rid of old stock because they can't afford new stock/new stock won't sell?

I'm on the hunt for a new TV when the sales start, so if you see any bargains, nudge nudge winkwink Nothing too big or snazy, just an average, basic TV with teletext, please. Must be legal.

I was looking at the guide prices at some of the repossessed houses and then putting thjem though Zopla to see what people had paid for them. Flats that people bought for £395K at the end of 2006 now with a guide price of £170-180K and a 5 bed Mac Mansion in Carditt that sold for £280K was bought at £550K in 2007.

Although most were making the guide price and about 10% more some were not reaching the guidepice. Very few were doing well.

And no doubt there is more to come.

Perhaps not quite the same thing, but I bought a HUGE Victor Paris bath on Friday for £75. Still in the wrappers.

10% of retail price.

Poor guy I bought it off had bought it for his bathroom, but when he got it home it didn't fit and the shop wouldn't refund.

Yep. He wouldn't have sold it otherwise. Had no income or accessible savings to pay the bills, etc.

Now he can buy a smaller/cheaper place and LHEA. smile
