Acrylic or (Safety) Glass

Doh!

Just smashed my garden rattan table top which was made of safety glass whilst trying to put the parasol back into its holder. It covers the table top to make a more it sturdy.

Question - what to replace it with? Measurement are 1500mm x 1000mm x 4mm (thick).

Safety glass @ £225
Acrylic @ £110

Both have pros and cons but does someone has professional expertise or recent experience that you can share please?

P.S. I'm leaning towards Acrylic but the Mrs want glass - but I know it's a disaster waiting to happen, and it will get smashed at some point

Acrylic will scratch, mark when cleaned and flex. Go glass.

Set up a search for one with a glass top and ratty rattan on Ebay/Facebook Marketplace/Gumtree. E.g. Rattan Garden Table Obviously I don't know the size of your table, but there is plenty of choice to be had.
