It's my son's first birthday tomorrow so we've been prepping the house with a few decorations etc. For the first time in a very long time I tried to get some balloons blown up and remembered how terrible I am at tying them. My other half can seemingly do it with her eyes closed and behind her back but I just cannot tie the knot in the end properly. After a lot of struggling I just about managed to do one but it took about 5 minutes by which time my partner had managed to crack out about 10. Bit embarrassing really but I cannot fathom how people are able to do it so easily. She just laughed at me laugh

I also cannot (and have never been able to) do forward rolls. At 37 I don't think I ever will frown

If you've not seen it this is Bob Mortimer doing backward and forward rolls on the programme Gone Fishing With Mortimer and Whitehouse.

Simple mental arithmetic.

Complex stuff; no problem - love a bit of standard deviation. Just don't ask me to do the scoreboard at Darts.

I can't tie balloons, when I read the title I immediately thought of it, open the topic and neither can OP.

Im rubbish at word searches too. And spot the difference games.

Until I opened this thread, I'd never thought about it but - yes - tying a knot in a balloon is something I just can't do!

Nor me. Even when I was a kid and still flexible it was impossible. Now I can’t even see my toes.

When I was young and flexible I could for example sit in a full lotus, I once did so through an episode of Top of the Pops.

Even then I couldn’t touch my toes.

Same here. I can make a barely audible noise, which I claim counts as whistling, by pursing my lips but I'm utterly perplexed by those who can whistle like a train.

Understand music theory. Some people just have a real knack for it, but for some reason no matter how hard I try it or how many different resources I go through, it just doesn't want to stick for me. Very irritating.

I have a mental scotoma when it comes to things upside down or mirror image.

Imagine a blank two piece jigsaw, just two bloody pieces, and one is turned upside down and rotated, but you don’t know that to start with. It’ll take me a good two to three minutes to work our what needs to be done to make the things fit together.

I remember once fitting an overhead lighting canopy/pelmet in a kitchen with a cut-out for the cooker hood to go through to an external vent. Almost three meters long and the hole was centre offset. Turned it upside down to do the cut-out having measured, checked and double checked the sizes only to discover upon lifting it up above the wall cabinets that the extractor cut-out and hob positioned below were 600mm apart. FFS!! banghead

As a kid during IQ type tests these were common problems; I just guessed. spin

I can't tie shoelaces the 'normal' way, where you make a loop then twist the other bit round it then do some twiddly bit I can't get my head round. I just make two loops and tie them together.
