Does anyone here live in, or near, Datchet?

It would appear that any major M25 issues around Heathrow, which happen very often, then loads of cars get diverted through the surrounding villages. You can witness all the cars following one another like lemmings, as we all use the same shared Sat Nav platform.

Anyway, that's not the reason for the post, I wanted to find out why there are two fish and chip shops next to one another, and whether they both do a good trade. I also wanted to know more about the junction just before Datchet, which seems to have a wasteland of caravans and detritus. Opposite which is a small collection of semi permanent homes, low rise, but with huge gates. Presumably a semi permanent travelers site.

I live a few miles away. Tried one once but shortly after I placed my order, a bunch of people with foul mouths and even fouler smells came in. One of their vehicles' engines must have pooed on them or something. I couldn't get away fast enough. The food was below par too.

Hi - no, sorry. I think it would take me twice as long to go through and take 2-3 screnshots, as it would for you to access google streetview and have a mooch around. Search for Drunken Fish. See which one has better google reviews.

Having wasted a few seconds of my life looking at these two fish and chip shops on Google Maps, I've found an Chinese/Indian fusion restaurant called Wok N' Rolls: https://woknrolls.co.uk/food-menu just down the road from these Fish and Chip shops.

Sephardic Jewish immigrants brought the specific fish frying method used in chippies to the UK when they were expelled from Spain & Portugal in the 1600s.

A lot of the area around Heathrow has a lot of caravans used by workers when on shift but who live elsewhere in the country. I knew a few who have done it, some for years on end. The low tax contractor salaries made it worthwhile.

In Watford there used to be two fish and chip shops, one called The Codfather, the other called Codfather 2.
