Best City in the world.

Born and bred, been all over the world, but nothing beats the feeling of knowing you are from Manchester.

Best football team (City)

Best Groups (Other than The Beatles of course)

Best accent.

Best Fish & Chips

That is all.

I think you'll find the Club World Champions are from London. Manchester City got knocked out by a Saudi team.

It was better before it became too popular and full of tourists. The city centre is carnage and prices are becoming ridiculous for a proud working class city.

I'd still rather be from Manchester than anywhere else in the UK though, Liverpool a close second and sadly thats the better place to visit these days.

We were in Manchester the other day, yup good place

However, we stumbled across Piccadilly gardens having spotted a kids playground on Google maps

Jesus Chris it was like a war zone with every nation in the world having a couple of its most mentally ill soldiers there

Real eye opener

I think most people are proud of their home city/place of birth and will find justification for their feelings.

I'm a Norvicensian, and I know that many outsiders comment that it's a lovely and interesting city, but I don't feel any need to harp on this - I'd rather that fewer people found out. Too many incomers from the Home Counties who've ruined the former Norfolk accent.

I've never been to Manc, only passed through in a car. I'm sure it has its points. I was staying in Wigan, which had no points at all. The search for a restaurant near my hotel produced only an iffy pizza place. Best fish and chips I've ever had was on Whitby harbourside.

Good luck with this one Wacky. Put on your helmet and prepare for incoming.

Yes, will have to concede that.

Piccadilly gardens was beautiful in the 1960's, full of flower displays, it's definitely gone downhill.

Regarding Whitby, Trenchers and The The Magpie do have top notch Fish & Chips I'll agree.

I'm also not sure about best accent. Mind you, anything's better than the Scouse whine. Apparently, Geordie is regularly voted UK's favourite accent, but I'm not sure why. It's still better than Birmingham, though.

The Welsh sing-song version of English is nice IMO but no doubt others won't think the same.

Good music, yes. New Order for me, with Oasis lagging badly, because they look like the kind of men who rob old ladies handbags. Plus anyone who wears a cagoule and bucket hat in a hot TV studio shows what a prat they are. Whiny voices, just whiny.

I live in the outer suburbs of Manchester and have done since the early 00s.

As with any city, it has its poverty and run-down areas. It rarely feels dangerous to me, though.

It is pleasant enough where we live and my children immediately realised this when they started venturing further afield.

Yes, Piccadilly Gardens is horrendous. It has become the focal point for all kinds of ne'er-do-wells. I do not go into the city centre often now.

My family background is Liverpool, I grew up in the land between the two cities, but Manchester/feels far more like home to me, having lived here a long time and not spent much time in Liverpool since my grandparents and other elderly relatives died 30+ years ago.

I'm not sure about Manchester having the "best accent". Where we live, the accent is not strong. I have a fairly generic northern English accent myself (probably considered "a bit posh" by many northern folk and "northern monkey" by southerners).

Myth.

The reservoirs on the hills are very empty at the moment too.
