How does this ‘intimidation’ manifest itself?
I find that quite bizarre.

I've abstained from shaving for a while and I've acquired a beard which I've not trimmed this year. The result is a big red beard which is circa 5 inches long; probably a bit too long but it's thick and majestic and I'm very proud of it. On the other hand I notice it intimidates other men which makes me cringe slightly, but I think the girls like it so I'm keeping it.

Views and opinion? Beards.

Apparently it's true: beards do intimidate other men though in 60 years of living with mine I've never found it an issue.

This comment is worthy of recognition, well done Sir!

This thread though is the most bizarre thing I've seen in a good while, and that's saying something. How is your beard intimidating other men OP? Please post a picture of this most intimidating beard!

Are you one of those people who turns from Tormund Giantsbane into Ed Sheeran if you shave?

How strange. I have a beard, I didn't grow it for other men to submit to me.

Your mum likes it though.

No pictures needed! Just imagine people (other men/cyclists) jumping in the canal to clear the "toe" path.

Stubble - fine
Goatee - meh
Short beard - OK
Bushy beard - scruffy
Long beard - nope, unless you're a wizard and it's white.
Plaited, waxed or coloured beard - WTF is wrong with you? hehe

Any more than 3 days stubble gets uncomfortable for me. I've gone 3 weeks of near torture and it looked awful. Shave every 2-3 days works for me.

I have a Goatee that I prefer to keep trimmed. When it grows out, it starts to make me look like a vagrant.

I don't think it intimidates anybody. smile

My view - my kids love playing “beards” so don’t be too offended if kids start playing it when they see yours.

Thanks bridesmaid, like the beard. Gives me something to hang on to!

I have a beard: long goatee (I was trying to get it a foot long, sadly growth seems to have stalled at 8 inches or so. Such is life. (No knob gags please)).

Grew it because I wanted to. I Can't say if it intimidates other men or not, or if random women like it or not as I really don't care.

(My missus likes it, so no worries on that front)

Odd thread. But it is Friday, so what the hell?

It's not even lunchtime yet and I strongly suspect that 'men are intimidated by beards' will remain the single most tttish thing I'll read all day..
