As per title really.

A slightly ageing, non-tech savvy friend has a hard drive with several hundreds of albums copied from her CD collection (she has all the original CDs, so I'm assuming no copyright issues?).

She has bough a new iPhone with "plenty of memory" and wants her music collection on the phone.

Whats the simplest way to do this?

I have a little used laptop, with no iTunes account, and have just downloaded iTunes.

Any thoughts most appreciated.

Connect the HD to the laptop, tell iTunes where to look for it then import all the music; assuming the music is in an open format (ie mp3) iTunes will convert it to AAC. You just plug the iPhone into the laptop and then tell iTunes to sync the music library with the iPhone

Nod.

Suspect I was overthinking this. HD actually contained an itunes music library, so everything nicely organised, just imported the "music" folder and now syncing the phone.

Surprised it didn't ask for an apple id password once, just the passcode for the phone.

Anyway, on its way to being sorted. Many thanks.
