I was watching an 80s/90s video the other day and it had someone running down an alley, and past a massive round commercial bin, it was very distinctive and it triggered some memories from when I was young, but I cannot find another picture of them, have search for various things but nothing.
Anyone remember them?
I think they were very common, really tall, I remember them being as tall or taller than a person, on wheels, and the bin trucks that collected them had a special mechanism to lift them up.

Know the sort you mean, we had them at school and it was where all the scuzzy kids used to hang around.

Can't find any pictures though...

The round ones? Looked a bit like a chemical tank?

Odd that there don’t seem to be any pictures I guess people didn’t waste film on photographing bins hehe

They were circular, bare aluminium l, I’d say 5 foot tall with 4 large castor wheels and from memory they had pegs on the side that the bin lorry mechanism would use to lift them. I recall black rubberised fibre lids too.

I recall them as Paladin Bins. Unlocked a bit of a core memory here too - odd the things that do that

Used to be one at the back of the vets. Was regularly full of dead pets.

Yeah this is the sort of thing.
Although the particular one I was I think was a bit taller and had some more detail on them, I think they were specifically designed for the mechanism on the back of the bin trucks to be able to grab them easily.

No idea, I just googled 'big round bins' (which might have been a mistake in itself) and clicked on 'images' (again, living life on the edge) and that's what came up.

I would guess that it comes from a land down under.

One of their most common treatments has a near 100% mortality and success rate.

Those bins used to be at the bottom of rubbish chutes in flats.

In an episode of The Professionals TV series there was a hostage situation where a nurse had a grenade held to her. When the hostage taker was shot it dropped down her top, Doyle ripped the top grabbed the hand grenade and threw it into one of those bins BANG and no one else was hurt.
