i made an offer on a collect only item and the seller accepted , when submitting the offer it said something about automatically taking paypal and its sent a qr code with code number

can the seller and I just ignore this and deal with cash or will it charge paypal anyway?

if you have paid on ebay, then you give the collection code to the seller on pick up, this allows then to get the money.

In the recent past I've generally ignored the eBay pick up qr codes etc & just marked the item as collected when the buyer has picked up & paid cash (back before they cancelled the seller fees so they were going to bill me rather than the buyer anyhow, so what difference does it make it the buyer gives me cash).

is there a pay on collection option somewhere you can choose? if not i'd stick with pay on ebay and just give the code on pick up.

The seller will almost certainly prefer you to pay with cash. It's a real pain when you're selling on ebay that you can't remove paypal as an option.

No need to do anything odd, the system is set up to allow cash too.

Firstly I would check that you haven't already paid through paypal. I have sold items before where people have unknowingly paid as this part can be automatic and you won't necessarily know.

Then when you pay him he can mark it as paid through the app or web page.

If you both have the app on a smartphone you can then use the ebay app to mark it as collected. One phone generates a code which the other person scans.

it only gave the option of paypal /credit card

we would both be happy with cash

when making the offer i had to agree that if the buyer accepts i a agree to autopay or whatever it was called

if no codes are exchanged its same as a no show right?

Have you checked your ebay/paypal accounts to confirm you haven't already paid?

When you submitted the offer you would have been asked to select your payment method and got a message saying 'If your offer price is accepted, we’ll automatically process your order using your chosen payment method'.

When the seller accepted you would have had a message saying 'Your offer was accepted by the seller. Your payment is complete'.

I did a collection only a few weeks ago, when I won the auction ebay sent me an email with a QR code, the seller then scanned that code when I collected and we both got an email confirming the transaction.
It worked well, but was just as well I had taken my phone with me (I often don't bother) otherwise I guess I would have to have gone back.
