Do you want to feel old?
Discussion
Another way of making yourself feel old is to imagine what year you would now be in had you lived your life going back in time since being born. Deduct your age from your year of birth which tells you what year you would be in now
I'm 52 and born in 1972 so it would now be 1920 for me. Even when I was a kid in the 70's the year 1920 would have felt a million years in the past, yet here I am!!!!
Anyone here who is age 63+ would now be in the 1800's.

The Lion King was released 30 years ago.
More time has elapsed between the release of the Lion King and now than between the moon landings and the release of the Lion King.
Things like this really blow my mind. It makes me realise that someone who is say 20 now looks at the year 1980 like i would look at the year 1956 i.e a time well before mine and a time i would look at as fMore time has elapsed between the release of the Lion King and now than between the moon landings and the release of the Lion King.

I cant remember where i saw it but theres a website with loads of anologys like this. Wars, moon landings, film releases etc.

I’m just watching National Lampoon‘s Christmas vacation.
You know the “hot girl” who plays the sales assistant and is on the diving board in the dream?
She is 70 this January
This film is a family institution - our Christmas doesn't start until it's been watched. You know the “hot girl” who plays the sales assistant and is on the diving board in the dream?

- Juliette Lewis plays the daughter, pre-Natural Born Killers with Woody Harrelson.
- Julia Louis-Dreyfus plays Margot, the yuppie neighbour, before her most famous role in Seinfeld. I always wondered why, when she's introduced in the film at the point where Clark has just bought his tree, she's wearing sunglasses in the dark.
- Aunt Bethany - Mae Questel - was the voice of Olive Oyl in the cartoons.
I do already. Having a lovely chat with my Daughter (10) this morning. "Dad, 2050 is going to be the future!", she asked me "what was the future when you were young"
"2000"
"so are we in your future now?"
I said yes, but it's never the way you think it will be, is it? I based my idea of the future mostly on Back to the Future 2. I expected flying cars, hover boards and Mr. Fusion, but sometimes I watch the news and wonder if Trump got his hands on the sports almanac 30 years ago instead.
I either forget, or ignore my age these days, it's just a number after all, can't help but compare myself. The 'older ladies' I do Yoga with, seem to sit in a age spectrum I'm in the middle of. The 'old people' I was at a party with at the weekend, are about my age. None of my friends have a living grandparent, not all of them have living parents.
In my mind, 'Not long ago' is 10 years usually. 'Ten years ago' is usually 20 and so on.
Back to Back to the Future and if it were made today they'd be going back to the 90s. When I first read that, my assumption would be that kids watching this BTTF reboot wouldn't notice such a jarring difference, which is plainly and very obviously wrong when you think about it. Take an average 16yo American kid now and drop them in the 90s and the shock would be incredible, literally - it would take them weeks, if not months to go cold turkey from smart phones and SM, that's before they have to start navigating a still largely analogue world. It would be more horror than comedy.
