Why do I do this?

Three weeks ago I had two operations in one one my right collar bone and ACJ (top Shoulder joint). This involved alot of cutting and drilling and removal of metal work and six screws.

Told to wear a sling for 4 to 6 weeks. First physio session 10 days post op given supported range of movement exercises. Do all my exercises and be able to start moving my arm well so start doing them unsupported, no major problem. Start not wearing sling for short periods and then longer periods no problem.

See surgeon after 17 days post op, dressings removed, wound healed, show range of movement to surgeon who is surprised but very pleased, happy for me to be without sling if I am comfortable.

Start going down gym to sit on static bike all ok.

On the third day down the gym after riding the bike I try a few exercises with a half kilo weight, what harm can 500g do?

That evening and today so much pain, so much`not getting on with what I could have done because I was an idiot and kept going that bit too far to see what it was like.

So stupid.

There you go, its cathartic admitting what an arse you can be, how far have you pushed the boat?

I nearly died during chemo because I didn’t want to bother anyone with how rough I was feeling and had a check up occurring in a few days, my blood count was less than 50 when I got there.

Got quite told off for that one…

When I was working in Spain in my misspent youth, my left leg swelled up like a balloon and I ended up in hospital for two weeks. I couldn't speak any Spanish and the only food seemed to be paella, so I couldn't wait to get out of there. When I was discharged with strict instructions to rest and not drive and to return the following week for a follow up check, I did what any normal (stupid) person would do and jump in their Metro GTA and drive flat out, non-stop, close on 1000 miles back home to the UK. 35 years later that leg is still playing up.

Pushing the boat out refers to spending much more/too much money than normal for a treat without too much thought, not medical episodes, in my language.

Any how, how about jogging back home from a vasectomy.

Had arthroscopy on both knees and a bit of work done cleaning things out. Told to rest it for a week. Next day I was driving as I had to be somewhere.

Had a hernia op when I was 8 and meant home schooling for 4-6mths. On the childrens ward before discharge I was riding a toy car around the ward. Got a right telling off for that.

Exactly this. The OP read strangely to me.

Stitched my own hand back together with a well out of date kit and ended up in Hospital on a drip on Christmas Day.
