Anyone been? We're just trying to work out if smart shorts are allowed or not.....nothing on the site about the 1875 specifically.

The tickets aren't exactly silly money so I'm not expecting somewhere with a very strict policy, but wouldn't want to find I'm screwed if I turn up in shorts.

At the risk of stating the bleeding obvious, wear something else rather than shorts if you are concerned.

I didn't see anyone wearing shorts, most people think of it as a special occasion and an opportunity to dress up. I have heard of one woman who was asked to cover her back and was given a shawl. She had a dress on that showed all of her back which was heavily tattooed to the point that one table of four who were sat behind her asked to be moved..

Yeah I hear you, I'm certainly not thinking scruffy shorts look, we're all going blazers, shirts etc, but would just rather be wearing nice chino shorts if possible as it's a hot day. Not trying to sound like a ponce, but the posh seats at Lords allow smart shorts, so that's the look I'm hoping works here too.

I didn't see anyone wearing shorts. Some wore lounge suits, the majority wore smart trousers and a jacket, including a tie.

You might want to consider why you want to wear shorts, especially if you are the exception.

Whether imposed or not, a lot of people will still dress up. You don't want to feel like a chump; I'd avoid shorts.

Yes, a fair point. We are certainly not planning on looking shabby, as above I'm fairly confident the smart Lords look with smart shorts isn't going to be 'letting the side down'

Maybe he has a Chelsea tattoo on the back of his calf that he wants to show off so people know he is well 'ard?

What a ridiculous thing to complain about. It's not exactly an exclusive members club, it's only £60 to enter lol.

I have heard of something similar happening at Bettys in Harrogate, an upmarket cafe and not far away at Weetons two women were asked to leave because their perfume was overpowering.
