My mate is having a rough time in general, latest is driving his van into a barrier and ripping his pipe carriers off the roof.

He’s gonna struggle to get it sorted quickly so I’m gonna get him a couple of xmas gifts early

Can anyone recommend the best pipe carriers that mount on the roof

Many thanks

Can he mount the pipe carriers inside the van? I've seen a few people do it where the length isn't too long and the design of the van allows it.

Neat idea, yes he has already done this, the external ones are for longer lengths

This is my industry!
Is he mounting the pipe tube on roof bars or a higher roof rack?

I think it’s factory roof bars front to back with transverse bars across

What’s 2nd, 3rd, 4th in your opinion after rhino

Many thanks all, appreciate it

I'm a sparky (no, really?) and have a Rhino tube for 3m lengths of conduit and trunking. Swear by it.

There's not really anything else comparable - you can get cheaper imitations, but they're just that. Nowhere near as good.
I scoured Gumtree and waited until one came up, and paid just £30 for it complete with two keys.

Just keep an eye on Gumtree/eBay/Facebook Marketplace/whatever and one will come up if you don't fancy paying whatever they cost new.

It's a fantastic bit of kit, and that's a really nice gesture on your part. I'm sure he'll appreciate it.

Don’t you find the conduit / trunking gets dirty when in the pipe tube? Or maybe because I hardly ever use mine but if I stick any in there and go to get a while later it’s all black and won’t clean up.

Just looked at them online and found they now do one with a pvc liner which would stop this.

Black conduit doesn't!

All joking aside, yeah the white stuff can get a little dirty, but a rub down with a Big Wipe always seems to work fine. Mine is choca, so the inner ones always stay pretty clean.
You can get lined ones, but when I found mine, I figured for thirty quid, I'd get what I could and not be too choosy!

Yeah it definitely would, but they do seem to clean up anyway with a wipe down. Problem is probably exacerbated if you don't keep much in there - mine is fairly full, so by definition, most pieces of conduit/trunking seem protected from the elements.

Shame. Have a load of new Rhino tubes. You could have picked one up if passing by.

Why on earth are they on his roof?

One's pipe rack should be on the dashboard, surely?

PM me if you want. I could arrange for however many you want to be sent directly to yourself if you want. You can have them for cost price if it helps (half RRP).

Hello! Thankyou very much for your post and DM, would you believe it, I asked my plumber what he was doing with his when he retires in September, he said if I could get them off his van I could have them!

Thankyou for thinking of me

No problem. Offer there if it doesn’t work out.
