Ever since someone pointed one out to me, it's all I see these days. Whether it's dog walking or the school run, there's always one.
One for the Council thread?

I bought my NorthFace Nuptse jacket back in 2009 for £110.
Been a life saver in cold conditions as I used to work outside and even was glad of it in Doha as the desert was freezing at night.
Still have it, a good piece of kit, but I don't wear it as every feker seems to have one now for just hanging around the shopping centre.
Not sure why they are so popular as they are around £300 now.

It’s a long parka, what am I missing?
They're much looser fit, somewhere between a coat and poncho. My wife has one, as do several other members of our running club, and they're great for throwing on over the top of your run kit, and are a loose enough fit to easily get changed underneath it. You look like a fking idiot walking around in one though.RizzoTheRat said:

I can imagine that they work very well for their intended use. But its one of those items of clothing that has a very small window of use and popping to Sainsburys isn't one of them. Also I wouldn't have thought that they are very warm, don't they just have a towel type of liningCotty said:

Yeah it's fairly heavy duty waterproof outer and a thick toweling lining, I'd assume reasonably warm but I've not tried it on.vikingaero said:
I am a dryrobe wker and use mine to get changed. Once changed, it's still nice to keep it on to stay dry and/or warm. I pair mine with some grey crocs for added Dad-style.
Ah crocs, the shoes with the holes to let your dignity flow out RizzoTheRat said:

I think they were first used in the film Idiocracy. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0387808/?ref_=tttrv_o...The film's costume designer needed to find futuristic-looking (but inexpensive) footwear for the whole cast. According to the director, she proposed using a small startup company that "wasn't out in the world yet." "Look at these horrible plastic shoes with holes in them," she said. "We could really save a lot of money, just put everyone in these things." the director replied, "But what if by the time the movie comes out, what if everyone's... what if these become popular, and people are wearing them?" The costume designer said, "Oh, these are never going to become popular. No one would ever wear these things, they're horrible." The shoes you see in the film are Crocs.
